Nokia official repositories not available
 

First of all, I wanted to say, that I went through a lot of other topics as well to look for an answer... I only found other people having the same problem, but never some real answer how to fix this...

The problem: The "official" Nokia repositories (Nokia Applications, Nokia Software Updates and Ovi) are not available. The error message tells me: "Could not resolve host: downloads.maemo.nokia.com (Domain name not found)

I read somewhere that this is a problem with the setup of my access point (DNS configuration) and that I should use Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4). Tried that by changing the DNS server in my router's configuration as well as changing the DNS servers in the N900's connection manager, but both didn't work.

Then I thougt I might have messed my repositories, but I checked the configuration, which seems to be ok for all of them. Further I read somewhere, that a bug in vpnc used to mess up the ip settings on the N900, that's why I hoped a complete reflash using the PR1.2 image will solve that problem, but I still get the same error message.

Does anyone have some further input for me? I even google for the problem myself, as long as you tell me what to google for ;-)

Have you tried just deleting and recreating them? Always worth trying the simplest option first.

I tried, but editing/deleting is not possible on the Nokia repositories, and the others (extras,extras-testing,extras-devel) are working fine.

argh... for a moment I thought I solved it... It seems my 3G connection works, but not my WLAN... It really looks like a router setup problem... ports maybe?

I notice that any link from downloads.maemo.nokia.com yields "access denied" on both my computer and phone

i have the same problem but this problem just came up yesterday, the day before it worked fine. cant really explain it.

maybe its because they want to upload the new apps to ovi????

no the problem is i can access them via 3G but not with Wlan as stated earlier in the topic.

there is even already a bug-report for this: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7665

Also some description why it might not work, but no solution how to fix this...
