Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

Helllo guys! So i have overclocked my N900 with Titanīs Kernel via that software Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users and i saw today at gsmarena that the new PR1.2 became official and soon iīll want to update my phone.
Question is if iīll be able to update do PR1.2 without any problem if Titans Kernel is installed?
Or iīll have to deinstall the kernel, reflash my original kernel and then update and then install the kernell to overclok again?

thanks in advance

If you flash your phone the kernel will be rewritten to the stock one.

EDIT: I think the same applies if you use NSU or update it OTA.

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

simply flash it to pr 1.2 and then reinstall the enhanced kernel

same question here . . I'm also using the titan's kernel.
seeing that tonight the new pr 1.2 will be available to download I don't wanna risk to brick my phone, will be a problem to upload with ota and the titan's kernel or I have to uninstall it??

thanks

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

thanks to you all, but it still not clear.
i want to know if i update via NSU will need to deinstall titans kernel first or not. Itīs a simple question.
At the link grant listed, says only via OTA i have to deinstall titans kernel.
And via NSU? do i have to deinstall the kernel?
another question came to my head, is if i simple click in the icon at N900īs menu to deinstall Titans kernel, it will get back to the stock Nokia kernel or i have to reflash my phone?

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

You can receive the OTA update normally. No need to revert to the stock kernel first. PR1.2 will overwrite Titan's kernel. You'll have to re-install it if you want to overclock again. He's updating his kernels now.

If you want to uninstall his kernel just click on the uninstall icon. No need to reflash.

thankyou so much Crashdamage!!!
just one more question if you could answer me: and if i want to update with NSU?

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

The NSU update method is just another way of flashing the device, so just as much work as the flasher

Crashdamage, are you saying updating via OTA will delete Titan's Kernel?
what about some mods made to the system? will these mods be deleted as well?

Many thanks

Like I said, it will overwrite (delete) Titan's kernel and you'll have to re-install it to overclock. No big thing.

As for 'mods' I suppose it would depend on what type of mods you're talking about. Ordinary user settings and configuration should be fine.

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

I lost my OC settings and modified transitions.

The update to 1.2 through terminal totally bricked my device, so I had to flash it to get going again. So it probably doesn't surprise anyone that I lost everything. :)

Hi Update OTA worked fine for me. I had the new kernel and overclocked.
But befor the update i deinstalled all problem software and freed 51MB in root.

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

i previously had lehto's 800 mhz kernel before updating to 1.2

since ive flashed pr1.2 i cant handle how slow the phone is at 500 mhz

i want to install titan's kernel-power package, but if i try to install kernel-power-settings or kernel-power-flasher from extras, i get: 'unable to install, conflicting application packages.'.

Details say they conflict with following packages:
kernel-modules-maemo
kernel-flasher-maemo
kernel-maemo
kernel-modules-maemo
kernel-maemo

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

That's funny, it totally let me install those packages, resulting in the second bricking of my device ;/

Naturally it was what I did with them that caused the bricking.

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

Is there anything in the maemo PR1.2 kernel that isn't in the titan power kernel?

bump for not being able to install titans kernels now

Re: Titanīs Kernel + OS Update PR1.2

jerryfreak: If I got those messages I would try to uninstall the stuff listed as conflicting.

I would be ready to flash if anything went wrong.

we have a wiki for such questions:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#U....3C_maemo24.29

@paulkoan: kernels > v34 (in -testing) include all PR1.2 updates and are a superset of the stock kernel.
