[NEWS] 3D reality GPS on Android
This post is just news, not a holywar starter. i'm asking not to compare any maemo products with android in any bad ways.
Anyway - check the video. Android has awesome GPS, but only regular one with nice features, but the one where videocamera is interacted. the video on youtube I think it's something new on mobile GPS |

Does the N8 have a digital compass? |
Re: [NEWS] 3D reality GPS on Android
That's cool, First time I've been jealous of another device, Oh well, can't drive anyway.
but they should release a standalone gps device with these feature. thats gota be the future! lol... wait.... no windscreen just a paper thin lcd screen and software that does this.... too far in the future lol :D |
Re: [NEWS] 3D reality GPS on Android
Its awesome. hope we get this too.
On the other side: doesn't that consume much battery with the camera always on? |

Re: [NEWS] 3D reality GPS on Android
err.. theres no need for the compass when you are in movement with the GPS anyway since it knows you are going a certain direction. The compass will give a better directional capability to the GPS application, but is not reliant on it. Its just the same way as Sygic now on the phone knowing your direction and directional bearings anyway.
Theres really no reason why this app cant be made for the N900 quite honestly (or any others that already have GPS capabilities, regardless of having a digital compass or not). |
