Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I was hoping the 1.2 update would fix this, but I no longer have the option to set up Nokia Messaging accounts through the email application. This has been going on for months. I have just been using Modest gmail and it is not nearly as usable as the Nokia Messaging setup. Any ideas?

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Depending on your location, NM is locked to certain cellular service provider. Find out which one that is, pop in that sim, set it up and you can run NM!

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I'm with T-mobile and it worked flawlessly until just a month or two ago. Are you aware of conflicts with NM and T-mobile (Arizona)?
Are you saying I would have to pop in a SIM from AT&T to setup NM on my phone even though I had it once before? |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I use TMo and it works for me. That's weird

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
FWIW I previously had NM on an e7 and an e72 and it is now totally borked.
My addresses are in some knid of NM no-mans land I just have to run regular |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
It's not the firmware, but its a problem server side. Nokia is adding more and more regions, sim cards and providers: http://thenokiaguide.com/2010/05/04/...rly-set-it-up/

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Strange that it worked on my N900 up until 1 month ago. Perhaps coincidentally, it happened when I was traveling to the Pacific NW from Arizona.

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Living in MN, USA and before I had the installed PR1.2 I had Nokia Messaging. Now, it's gone.... Anyone have a clue?

Previoudly a reflash of the old eMMC would bring it back but even tried PR1.2. with the old eMMC that and it is still missing Nokia messaging in email providers. Please anyone help us. I need it specifically for Yahoo email. |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I've got this bug too. Nokia Messaging was available when using my T-Mobile (USA) sim card on PR 1.1(.1), but when upgrading to PR 1.2 (clean install) it doesn't show up on the wizard anymore.
The solution I found was simply trying it with another provider sim card, I found a dead AT&T sim card, and set it up using wifi normally. Here's the bugzilla entry for this: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9613 (marked as WORKSFORME :/) |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Same here, used the ATT SIM to configure NM account, once the account is configured you can switch back to T-Mo.

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Unfortunately I have the same issue as some of the other posters on this thread.
I'm using a T-Mobile SIM, and I'm in Southern California. Nokia Messaging is missing from the list of providers, which is unfortunate. I also don't have access to another provider's SIM at this time. Not really a big deal, as I can still use IMAP to get my email, but I imagine I'll have to wait for an official 'fix' or so. |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Popped in my buddy's SIM from his ATT Iphone earlier today, accessed data OTA and the Nokia Messaging option was there during setup; but I kept getting an error. Perhaps I need to try again via wi-fi with his SIM?

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Resolved for me using old non-T-Mobile sim to set up Nokia Messaging then inserting t-mobile sim back in once Nokia Messaging is set up.
Thanks all for work around |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
UPDATE (sorry for caps)
I just talked to Nokia Support through the phone. They stated that 2 months ago, TMobile USA disabled support for most of Nokia's software, which includes Nokia Messaging. If you had Nokia Messaging set-up before those 2 months, then you should be fine. But as you know, PR1.2 cleared those settings. It's a total bummer... |

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
What a bummer! I was just thinking about switching from AT&T to T-Mobile after upgrading to PR1.2, so I can use Video Skype over 3G...
If it is really the problem with TMo - they are loosing customers! |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Doesn't show up for me, either.
|
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Also, it is Nokia's server failing to give it as an option (even when I'm on wifi)... maybe that is in response to T-Mobile blocking it. But we should still have the option to use it over wifi, don't you think?
What about if you have no SIM at all, does it show then? |

It works for me *whistle*

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Anyone have a copy of a working config file they can post?

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Hmm, I've tried the old SIM card method with no luck. I tried to add Nokia Messaging through wifi but the option was still not there. I hope Nokia fixes this issue soon, I am tired of checking everyone of my e-mail accounts.

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
hey you have to get an att sim card and add the nokia messenger service on wifi then put your tmobile sim back in...tmobile has an issue with packet data
|
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
Would the at&t prepaid sim cards work for getting the service? I've no access to anyone with at&t so thinking of grabbing a cheap prepay.

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update

Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I can confirm that the AT&T SIM swap method works for Tmobile users.
I have a Tmobile account, and was able to successfully use an AT&T SIM from a co-worker to get the Nokia Messaging option to show up when adding a new account. After I set up Nokia Messaging, I switched back to my Tmobile SIM, and it's now working without problems. Love being able to receive the emails almost immediately. It's great to have IMAP access and all, but waiting 2-5 minutes for my gmail and work email accounts to refresh was a joke. Nokia Messaging is very good, almost on par with my old Blackberry service. |
Re: Nokia Messaging still missing -- even after 1.2 update
I also have this problem. My theory is that this aspect of Nokia Messaging came with the original firmware and goes away when a complete reflash is done.
Someone said that if you flash an Asian version of the firmware, Nokia Messaging comes back. I never tried it. |

I have been using Nokia Messaging on T-Mobile US without issue until yesterday I totally reflashed with 1.2 (global) and emmc. Now there is no more Nokia Messaging option to setup my email  |

Only things I don't like are: 1. When you get new email, it doesn't highlight which of the mailboxes has new email so you end up wasting an extra step to display the inbox folder. 2. It doesn't update the email having been read so when I log into my email account through webmail or email client, the emails are still marked as unread even if I read them through the phone app. (Or am I mistaken?) Update: Looks like I am mistaken, think I needed to change the update interval setting. |
