What is the best twitter app?
So what is the best twitter app that we have for the N900?
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
I use Tweego. None of the others seemed nearly as polished last time I looked.
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Witter as far as functionality goes
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Witter or Tweego.
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
waiting for some bugs to be fixed in TweeGo, so for now it's Mauku
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Haven't found any really good twitter app for maemo yet (nothing to the level of what can be found for symbian or iphone anyway). I tried Mauku briefly a few months ago but really didn't like the UI look & feel and its functionalies were far too basic.
Tried witter too but again the UI was far too rough for my taste (yes, I like pretty things that look and feel great :). It also was lacking in basic functionalities when I tried it but the developer put a lot of work into it and it seems it's quite full featured now. Might give it another try. TweeGo looks great but far too basic. So i tend to use tweetgo.net instead. It's a web interface, so quite slow and clunky but it looks fantastic, it's very well designed with all the features you use the most just one click away and it's got the all essential functionalites (avatar, reply, old-style and new-style RT, view @ replies, DMs, auto-refresh, view profiles, view user timeline, follow and unfollow, search). |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
i really like the twitter integration for conversations and contacts, but seems discontinued
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
i use the web browser...
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Tweetgo.net is the best solution IMHO. Tweego is very nice looking but lacks functionality, Witter is awesome and pretty full featured but I just prefer the interface of Tweetgo.net better.
I don't like using Mauku but it is a fairly simple twitter client and is the only one with a desktop widget showing recent tweets. |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
tweetgo.net
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?

Re: What is the best twitter app?

Re: What is the best twitter app?
Witter, TweeGo and Khweeteur are the 3 apps I have tried till now. None of them are perfect.
I have published my comparison between Witter and TweeGo in my blog and a review about Khweeteur. I do not know how painful it is to develop, there are so many other great apps in n900, why this is still not perfect??:confused: |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Hey all
I have used everything from Witter to Contacts, unfortunately the latest Witter build has gone a bit pants, TweeGo is not there yet. The best so far is www.tweetgo.net, a web app but looks amazing and is quick, no geo local or twitpic though Next is Hahlo.com, amazing implementation, another web app also, features inline replys, inline pics and video in the tweets themselves and geolocal, but just not have snazzy WP7 looking at Tweetgo.net Check them out http://irelandstechnologyblog.blogspot.com/ |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
We have Twitter Widget from Nokia. Itīs a basic app, just like the Foursquare widget.
This widget had some problems. It was consuming 100% of CPU. Nokia has already fixed it, but only who had this widget on the phone, has received the update throught app manager. Nokia will probably put it on Ovi Store again soon. Maukuīs creator seems to have quit the project. I hope his still alive... TweeGo has the best design and its creators seems to be very happy with the project. I think we will have many updates of this program. Tweetgo.net is really cool. Greate design! But itīs a web based app (http)... For many users this is not a problem, but for me.. it is. Witter is a very complete app. Maybe the most complete of all. It doesnīt have a great design like TweeGo, but it does has almost all the features we need. As you can see, we still donīt have an app as good, as complete and with a great design, like Gravity in Symbian phones. Unfortunately, @janole donīt seems to have any plans to port Gravity do Maemo, but maybe to MeeGo.. who know? Thatīs why I still have an Nokia E71 that I carry with me all the time together with Nokia N900 |

Some considers that tweego have the better ui ... well it s just a matter of choice. Personnally i hate it :) Quote:
So this small things like the too much complexity ot witter ... the slowness and interface of tweego, mauku isn't working on my twitter account for an unknow reason. I made my own soft : Khweeteur ... it s far from beeing user ready : unified view with twitter/identi.ca, email notification style, and search ... . But search isn't working well currently. |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
May fav is witter.
I always try the extras-devel version as I like the new features dwould is adding to it, but if I had to rely on it to get in touch with friends etc I'd just get it from extras-testing (that one seems very stable). |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
mainly i am using witter. my 2nd choice is tweego. what impress me the most is the ability of n900 built-in browser to run powertwitter script. i use powertwitter when i want to view all the photos without having to open another browser. and it works for video too!!

Re: What is the best twitter app?
I did a comparison between Witter and TweeGo both were not good. Then I tried Kweeteur and again not satisfied.
 |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Witter is easier to tolerate but I long for a QT port of Gravity. Tweego looks nice, but not enough meat and potatoes, there.
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
never tried mauku, didn't liked witter's ui. tweego has the twitter feel and the ui is good. it just need more features as it's so limited...
i don't know if tweego is phishing prone as i was required to change my password for the 4th time now since i only open my twitter using tweego most of the time. i need to logout rather than just close the app to prevent it from happening... |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
i think this must be harder than we can imagine, i remember gravity since i was one of the testers on that app, and look what it has become.
But at the very beginning looks a lot like witter... so is just a matter of time, i know we are a year after, but anyway we are not doing them so we cant judge... i think maybe they should do a non-free app, i'll pay for it, if it works great and is what i need... |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Witter is not complex and is the best thing out there, though there are any number of attractive web-based options. Witter has lately gone a bit pants, as someone commented (what does it mean, anyway?) but that's because its developer is ceaselessly curious and trying to find better ways to do things. We're lucky to have him.
What Witter really lacks is a way of saving searches, like Twitter au naturale has. But many of the other frequently praised apps don't even HAVE a way to search, which is disgusting, unacceptable, and the developers should be shot. (well, maybe I'm going a bit overboard <g>) |
Re: What is the best twitter app?
Twitter OAuth is new and its pretty useful. I read actually that twitter is making it required for all apps but it is pretty convenient to have anyways
|
Re: What is the best twitter app?
i think twimgo is the best one.. :)
