PR 1.2: Still no fix for media player widget
 

the bug we previously had, when you reboot your N900, you can not press play button(play button on widget doesn't work)

this was the biggest. bug for me... and still did not fixed...

how sad for me... =(

pr 1.2 is a disappointment for me. virtual keyboard is more frustrating to type on.

i think it might be to do with the theme you are using?

you can get around this without having to reboot everytime.

Just open up your media player, and play a track. While this is playing delete the widget, and then add it again.

Should work fine after this. :)

media player widget working fine for me, with or with out browser open, and i turn off virtual keyboard because my n900 has a slide out keyboard?
so another pointless pr1.2 thread
can someone lock or delete it?

edit: i still think this is a valid reply, it was not meant to offend anyone, if people want to subject me to hate comments over it then thats fine, some of the comments towards me in this thread have been valid, but most were absolutely disgusting, regardless of that im still gonna be first in line to help you when its needed,

Off topic but: I think the virtual keyboard is now (to quote Jobs) "a dream to type on"! And it looks much better too, you see your window in the background and clicking in the top area minimizes the keyboard, couldn't be better. And well, keyboard layouts are ALWAYS a matter of taste, imo... me personally i love it. But well, i totally understand that some others don't like it :)

On topic: Yeah, seems like they haven't touched the widget at all. Personally, i never had a problem with the play button bug, BUT another really annoying bug was that the widget sometimes starts playing music after you end a call, or close the lens cover. I still can reproduce the bug 6907...

Until it broke again... and after pr1.2, we don't expect the use of workarounds.

what a stupid troll answer. Widget works exactly as it should if you use it as a stand alone widget. But with other widgets running e.g. omweather; when you reboot, widget displays album art and song but playing it won't play the song unless your launch media player app all over again.

This is the bug ~

Another huge problem is when the play button gets stuck, its stuck for good. Nothing will change its mind, unless you remove it and add it again. Launch media player again and start the song again. Oh and another thing, now all of the other widgets (except calendar) are gone from your desktops. You have to re-add them.

Now my hunch is audio layer gets stuck somewhere when we reboot the cellphone with other widgets running. It expects some other applications to be using audio.

In fact this is a problem and has been the problem since i got my phone. This does not happen from the second you place the widget on your homescreen. Im not sure what the trigger is but something that is installed stops the widget from working left and right buttons work fine still but the play botton doesnt work.

ok scratch that just tested it again and its working again. last night tho it didnt work for ages.

To say there is no problem and this is a useless thread isnt true. To state pr1.2 in the thread is pointless.

Could this be anything to do with the video and sound thats played at boot time "nokia hands"? or is that to early ?

i agree to state its a useless thread is a silly answer to the problem. Widgets behavior is sporadic and must be looked into. Since it works perfectly well alone, i am gonna go through widgets one by one to see where it gets stuck.

Tested installed widgets one by one, trouble maker so far is Multi-calendar widget. Now clearly this would depend from user to user for the widgets they have installed.

lol I did not pay 200 pounds but yes i have paid $600 on this device.
and YES I am NOOB. maemo community, wants all of N900 users to be "linux programmers" but you know what? I am not that kind of man, and what i expected is, one, pretty perfect, bugless, cellphone that'll please me and worth my money. I have no idea how to use x-term, i tried to study, I gave up.

one time, man like you blamed me for not knowing those stuff, one guy said at other thread when someone said n900 is for geeks, "I don't thinks so, n900 is perfect for normal users."

frankly speaking, you guys won't be really happy about it, but I kinda expected iPhone-like thing.

Hello everyone and good morning from Ireland,

well for me anyways, I have had the pleasure of a fully and properlly functioning media player widget ever since I updated to 1.2 and couldn't be happier. Everything is working as it should, thank you Nokia and thank you Maemo community!

I'm another user who have this problem. After I've flashed my N900 with the PR 1.2 update, the Media Player widget was working like a charm, even after reboots the "Play" button would work just fine. But as soon as I restored the apps, the the "Play" button stopped working again.

I've tried removing all widgets from all desktops, only leaving the Media Player widget and some shortcuts. Apparently, it's working again (right after a reboot, no remove / include widget), but I don't get the album art, artist and track name to be properly shown until I press the play button. With other widgets on the desktop(s), the album art, artist and track name would show up just fine.

Gonna try adding widgets to see which one crashes it.
