updated my wifes n900 and cant see much that would really benefit me and i read page after page of issues with the new update so should i even bother updating???? hmmmm......

Yes always update to the latest firmware. If you want to play safe, then flash your phone to the latest one.

Yes, you should.
It contains a big bunch of bug fixes and a few new features. It is good.

"if it aint broken do not fix it", and KISS-principle tells you (and me) we shouldn't.
However, just for the excitement, I think I will upgrade next week when I can take the risk more lightly.

Fixing something which aint broken.

There is always a risk doing big upgrades in IT-systems.
And I need my N900 to work these next days. If something goes wrong in the upgrade, I wouldn't have time to concentrate solving the problems. Also the extra applications has to be re-installed.

Is it a big or small risk, I do not know or much care. I just know I am wise not to take it currently. I've learned my lessons with IT-systems before.

I also work in the IT field.

I just upgraded mine and I'm loving it.

The problem is, it is broken, that's why you would upgrade. There's tons of bugz, even now, but it's better. 1.1 was better than 1.0, and 1.2 is better than 1.1. But 1.2 is running like lightning for me and rock solid stable.

But I did this just like I would do an IT OS upgrade. I formatted and installed everything from scratch. The only thing restored from backup was my Contacts. I reinstalled all appz from scratch as well.

I also formatted everything. PR 1.2 is a breath of fresh air for the n900 and all those people posting problems with the update are just idiots.

I love it and have no problems.
