I was going to download PC suite for the N900 but then i saw that Ovi suite 2.2 was available for download.

no I can't. sorry might be different here i see no hint of Ovi anywhere.
More importantly, read the posts on the nokia forums before downloading that, might not be for everyone just yet

Does anyone know the timeline (though it means nothing if I remember previous announcements from Nokia :D ) when 2.2 should be released ?
First time I have to wait over 6 months for PC-Support of a Nokia device...

I'm still using PC suite al least to have my agenda in sync.

I'd like to know if this beta version at least supports full contacts and agenda. I'd appreciate it if someone already using this beta for a while can give me some feedback.

IMHO, until you and the other mods make a definitive statement about not allowing links to bootleg, illegally obtained, or NDA and other protected software; you are going to have to keep editing a lot of threads and some members will still be "wondering".

I applaud Sig's efforts in this thread and yours in others but you can not be every where all the time. Without an explicit statement some people will never get it and helpful members may be reluctant to report such posts for fear of being wrong about what is and isn't "allowed".

Worse yet, there will be some that will disregard even explicit instructions because they have a different agenda. Without these instructions you can not accurately distinguish the...

It isn't me and the other Mods. It will have to be Reggie. But even then, we shouldn't have to say a word. The EULA is very clear on this matter.

And once again people are discussing the beta, soooo... to be closed.

i have just updated the ovi suite and downloaded the uk maps....immediatley after downloading the maps it said there were updated maps so it removed all what i downloaded and downloaded the new maps. whats that all about? anyone else find this?

and i also noticed when you go to uk maps it says england scortland wales and northerm ireland. i selected all uk and it is now downloading the republic of ireland also.? i never selected the republic.

just goes from bad to worse....having updated maps i opened the ovi maps and when i select the red button for present loaction it stallls and stays on downloading data when i select satellite view. The maps also takes about 20 seconds or more to open. Anyone able to advise?

right now, i have the nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1 and the nokia software updater 2.5.2 installed.

is ovi suite a replacement for both?

If N900 is your only phone there won't be much difference as phone itself lack more tight connection to software. IMO Nokia PC suite offers better managemet over sync options (especially calendar is handled better). Whole program is a lot faster -- have quad proc with 8Gb and I must say Ovi suite is slow as (almost) dead horse. But looks nicer :) Note: that's my personal experience based on less than average use.

Hi all,

Recently I broke my Linux distro, and to fix it I´d need an internet connection router which I currently don´t have. So, I installed WinXP on a spare partition and downloaded the latest Ovi Suite.

On next WinXP reboot it turned out the MySql server had been borked. A second problem, only appearing when using the Ovi Suite, is that it tends to (soft) reboot my N900 spontaneously. I say (soft) for when the N900 is back to life, the lockcode does not need to be given, so appearantly it´s not a full boot.

Anyone else seen this behaviour? I stopped connecting to the net through Ovi Suite altogether and use the standard connections dialogue now, but that does not solve the borked MySql-server.
