Sygic Mobile Maps 9 - Asia Pacific region maps anytime soon?

Does anyone know if there are other turn-by-turn nav maps programs available for the N900? My first thought is sygic but they don't have maps for my area (New Zealand) and as the phone will probably never be supplied here (I imported mine from USA) I'm wondering if I'll ever get to use my phone as a GPS while I'm driving...like my mate can with his old E75. Any ideas?

I've contacted Sygic twice, map data is not an issue (they have Asia Pacific for other platforms). The reason they cited a delay was licensing issues, but they weren't very expansive.

Can't we just use the Iphone map for the Ausie and NZ map and dump'd it into the Sygic folder?

You cant use the Iphone maps but do a google search for maemo sygic australia and you will find what you need. Its about the 6th result from the top. Applies to NZ aswell, they are in the same mapset.

What I did is download Mobile maps through Ovi store then added the australia map to /opt/sygic/maps/

Its a pitty we have to result to hacked software when the author wont release the required version for us.

distribution of maps on other ways than through Sygic is illegal. please remove these links and handle it via PM if necessary.

On mine the maps direstory is /home/user/MyDocs/.maps

This makes far more sense since the /opt directory is only a 2GB partition and MyDocs is the 32GB vfat partition

I think the location of the maps folder can be customised in Sygic, but as I said wasting the /opt partition with maps that can be as large as 1GB is not recommended

Yes this is Nokia soon. so.........I am sick of waiting. There is a very good working solution that I have been using....

For once I would have liked to have paid for it but it cost me nothing. I donated cash to other developers on here instead.........
