Fifa World Cup livestreams

I'm surprised about the relative silence about this subject at TMO. Just a few days until the 2010 World Cup starts and i can't find any announcements about live-videostream sources that would work on the n900. All there will be at this moment are p2ptv streams which obviously are no choice for this device. ARD and ZDF, local TV-Stations here in Germany offer streams, but guess what, Flash10 is required. I'm not sure if WorldTV is of any help. I want to avoid having to buy a DVB-T stick and stream the games via knots2, so if anyone knows or finds any sources, whether official or "dark" ones, which stream all the games in watchable quality please post them here.

Re: Fifa World Cup livestreams

myp2p.eu
this is my favorite site to watch any kind of sports live and most of them are media player streaming, so all I do is grab that media player http and add that to my N900 and voila I have the streaming of live games through native media player in N900 nothing is better than that.
similarly i wathced the 2010 superbowl with some exceptions.

atdhe.net works too. Playing it natively in the media player would be awesome though

Meh, I work from home, so I'll catch most of the matches I want to see. If not, there's the DVR, and I stil have my WinMo phone with slingmobile if I'm caught out clothes shopping with the lady.

However if slingmobile for Android drops in the next week or so, I'll pick up a mid/high level phone that's compatible with AT&T or T-Mo, since it will no doubt have better hardware than my Moto Q.

hey is there a specific codec pack required? I have the additional codec pack, however when I try to play the tv streams I get audio briefly with a green screen....

yes i use the myp2p as well. its a very good site (works on both pc and the n900)....another similar site is p2p4u (now called first row) ...both have live sports from around the world.

http://www.firstrow.net/

http://www.myp2p.eu/index.php?part=sports

also tvcatchup is going to be streaming on a low bandwidth so you will be able to watch itv and bbc (for uk only)....for people not in the uk use the sites above for live world cup games.

Watch World Cup with N900?

I'm using www.tvcatchup.com and clicking on the low res tab. The advert is jittery but once the channel loads click full screen and just leave it be... It should run pretty smooth after a few seconds.

That doesn't work for me because I'm in the US. Anyone else?

Re: Watch World Cup with N900?

Here in Australia one of our telecom companys called Optus is streaming it for free for mobile users. They even released a iPhone app ofcoarse, my n900 doesnt seem to be able to play it though :(

Firefox is the only browser than can log into the account section and when you click the "watch live" link the media player takes over and dies.

the link the media player is fed is somthing like:

rtsp://rtsp.optus-football.com.au/~ etc etc ~/wc_channel_a_h263.sdp

Its sad somtimes that theres so much exclusive support for the iPhone and Nokia getting no love :(

Someone mentioned a website: www.myp2p.eu but I can't get anything working with the N900. On the PC using aoftware like TVU or Sopwith it works. Anyone got a solution for watching it on the N900 outside the UK?

Damn british b*stards..with you iBBC and Tvcatchup..learn to share :P

Re: Watch World Cup with N900?

^Agreed!! The N900 can't seem to open the media player on ESPN's website or any other website for that matter. What's up with that?

Thanks nosa101 but ,with myp2p I could watch in the browser. But flash is too unreliable. Do you know of any streaming links that I could use in mplayer or the media player?

When I try tvcatchup it wants to launch the link in the N900s built in media player and then whinges: 'unable to open playlist corrupted'

How did you get around that?

ESPN has the games in the US. I have forgotten if they have N900 compatible video. I believe it's probably Flash based. I just watched the South Africa - Mexico game on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) . Next game is 1430.

Re: Watch World Cup with N900?

you can try the links at channelsurfing.net

i havent tried them yet, but they are flash players usually. If there is a real stream behind the flash player, sometimes you can figure it out from source view

Just like to say I watched the entire mexico - SA game on a firstrow link and it was great. Perhaps two spots where it stuttered (I was on wifi) but the rest of the time perfect. I checked it against the TV broadcast and it was perhaps 5 seconds delay - you cant beat that.

try channelsurfing.net

it uses a flash player but i am usually able to watch it with a good connection

If one must have the BBC broadcasts, use this instead

i'm using www.justin.tv.com
there is also www.rojadirecta.org
there you just select the match you want to see
but it would only work with the links that says web (flash) or ustream or justin just click on play

Thanks.

You have to setup optus WAP, make a new GPRS connection using the fapn app.

Optus Zoo:
APN: wap.optus.net.au
Homepage: networker.optus.net.au/wap/index.wml
Connection mode: TCP with Proxy
Proxy IP: 202.139.83.152
Port: 8070

once thats setup goto web.optuszoo.com.au using firefox and follow the FIFA link. If theres a match on itll have a link to stream it.

Thanks so much for this mate. I've been trying to figure this out for about 2 weeks now without any luck. I had set up the WAP but Optus gave me the wrong details so it didn't do anything.

Have you tried this with a different media player at all? It's crashing on me too. It would be awesome if I could get this working because I get **** reception for SBS at my place and it doesn't work at all on digital so I've been watching all the games on the net and it's eating into my download limit.

Re: Watch World Cup with N900?

Anybody tried ESPN3.com?

stlpaul 2010-06-14 20:34

Re: Watch World Cup with N900?

ESPN uses Move Media Player which is a proprietary DRM plugin. It won't work on N900 (or desktop Linux for that matter). So forget about ESPN unless you can find a third-party (illegal) stream.
