App request: Fake incoming phonecall
 

I was thinking, would it be tough to create a fake phonecall app? In short, it's an app which 'calls' you at a defined time - but there's no actual air time, it's an offline dummy call.

It can be a fun app to use, and might even get you out of upcoming embarrassing situations.

Possible feature list:
- Set phonecall time - very similar to the alarm on Maemo 5, you have the choice to set when exactly the call's gonna come in, and whether it's daily.
- Select which contact will fake the phonecall, or customize a new fake contact, or select 'unknown number'.
- Choose whether the phonecall ends itself after a certain amount of minutes, or it waits for you to hang up.
- Set an mp3 file to play and loop while the conversation is going. This way you can pre-record a mumbling voice and set it so it would sound real.

I won't be able to program this myself so I'm just throwing my idea here. I guess a similar app can do the same with sms messages.

Ya i want something like this as well for Maemo, i use SpoofApps for my iPhone and I use VirtualCaller & Fake Call on my HTC Touch Pro (Windows Mobile).....

VirtualCaller gives me the option to make fake calls as well as fake sms, which is nice.


Also, there're apps that can spam multiple SMS to your contacts, as well as sending flash sms.....it would be awesome if someone can make all this.....

When enough ppl have these, noone believe anymore even if a real phone call comes.

The FCC put out some ruling not to long ago so I doubt we can have it here

There's already a garage project for such an application, mfakecaller, awaiting spare time and developers ;)

I find it hard to believe that, I can think no reasons why that would be a thing that would have to be made illegal.

I think he might be referring to caller id spoofing, which is completey different

lol wake it up? It was only started 5 days ago! You make it sound like it's been sitting there inactive for months :p

The best way to wake these projects up is to join the project and help out. I know right now the owner of the project has a lot of things on his plate, he could use a hand with development. :)
