in the X-terminal should do install wget. You might have to be root to do it.

I just installed the widget and it's unclear how to change the settings or change anything at all.

A re-boot was needed for the widget to appear but we'll have to wait for a game to kick off before we can see how it works.

I'd personally only bother with this app if it had gone through the required development and testing process within the maemo community

Installed fine here. As for it not going through the process. Its up to the author and the individual user to decide if they want to go outside of maemo.org. This app is a nice example of a cross OS widget.

I managed to install it too but it just says "no games today". Hopefully when the WC starts it will wake up...

I installed it fine, too. Here are some screenshots. The first is when offline, the second is when online and the third is the "About" screen. rather empty for now.

Hope it will kick off during the world cup... ;) If not, it will fastly be uninstalled...

if u click on the link on the website with N900 link, app manager should be open to let u know that a repository must included to install that app if u click yes all should go automatically only hope is that it will work when wc will start!!

app manager is open, click on nokia N900 and app still hasn't downloaded :(

first disable extra devel and testing repo's even better reboot the phone after disabeling those repo's and try again but when the app manager goes open be patient till he asked to include the repo to install that app.

Installed fine for me
Downloaded from browser on N900 and it open App manager and requests to create new repository. Click yes and it installs. Reboot to make widget appear. I had to remove another widget to make space but will change it back after World Cup. I need another home screen!

I am having the same problem. The new repo is enabled and the App Manager goes so far as to download the package, but when the installation actually starts I also get the "Unable to install pelota-widget" error message, with no extra information. Very weird, had never seen this before.

well i get this after trying to install via root using .deb

/home/user/MyDocs # dpkg -i pelota-widget_1.0.0-1_armel.deb (Reading database ... 28530 files and directories currently installed.)

dpkg: error processing pelota-widget_1.0.0-1_armel.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/hildon-desktop/loaders/libqtpluginloader.so', which is also in package qt4-homescreen-loader

i deleted the libqtpluginloader.so !!

still the same error comes !! even after reeboting

After several testing I found this wirget doesn't work if you have irreco-widget
And if you already have this installed, forget to install irreco-widget.

Both widgets uses libqtpluginloader.so file, but different version I guess. That's the problem.

EDIT: the widget starts to show info!

Tried both ways to install it but it says "unable to install pelota widget".

You need to remove qt4-homescreen-loader
I've noticed it's used in irreco-widget. so you need to remove it
Maybe you have another qt widget that uses this lib

Mine now shows the games from 12 June so I hope they are just testing this and it's not a bug that has all the dates wrong

Mine shows KOR-GRE and ARG-NGA which both play on 12.

I am wondering though, since I am currently in Greece, if the widget recognises the location you are in and shows just the games of your home group. What would happen, if your country of location isn't playing then?

Although in pthomas' case it should then show matches of 14th...

It only shows those 2 games although there are 3 matches that day.
Let's hope it sorts itself out as otherwise this becomes a useless application

i have this installed.....why does it now have kor o-o gre & arg o-o nga on my desktop.....they are not even the first games....does this software work or is it just another rubbish app?

I have these 2 installed and the Pelota widget is fine so it shouldn't be these ones
