Nokia N900 - Amazon is dropping

Up to about a week or so back the N900 was steady at $499, then it slipped to $479, and checking today it's at $459!

Keep an eye out, it may keep dropping... seems the price is falling at most stores.

thanks for the heads up...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-178-_-Product

thats another place to watch... i think Amazon charges tax in almost every state, whereas Newegg in only 3... after amazon tax, they are the same price :P

Not looking to disagree, but just had to check for myself since *I* don't get charged tax for orders here in WV...

"Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax."

So that might be worth checking out :)

I usually have orders shipped to Ohio and Amazon does not charge sales tax.

when it gets to bout $350 I will strike. though I would love to have linux in my pocket, for a device that has had the rug pulled out from under it only 6 months into its existence, $350 seems like a fair price.

In other countries it has dropped too lately. e.g. in Switzerland : http://en.toppreise.ch/chart_178841.html

Of course, should also point out that there the initial price was ridiculously high..

Another drop - $399.99. Ordered one for myself as not sure if it'll drop much more, at the point of the device being phased out retailers will gradually run out of stock and limited supply may actually drive prices up.

Bought one from DELL, the other day for 369 + taxes. Came to total of 408.

wondering why prices are dropping so fast!. Iphone 4 Impact? Or any major announcements are getting closer? Like the N9 rumor!..

The hardware in the N900 is dated compared to what's coming out nowadays, it's not selling as well as retailers hoped (no surprise). And its successor is coming out later this year.

The specs do look better on paper, however is there a fundamental leap in real-world performance at this point? Probably not.

What's the point of this post? An unlocked Droid is now $439.99 at Newegg, original price $600, it's similar hardware and release date as n900. It's pretty much normal for prices to drop like this, in a market with a short shelf life. I don't think anyone would claim that the Droid is unpopular.

The Dell deal for $369 was a sale for 4 days, it's now at $399, which seems to still be a sale price, god forbid anyone have one of those.

Re: Nokia N900 - Amazon is dropping

For Droid @NE, I'm not very comfortable with the idea of paying almost $500 (including 10% CA sales tax) on an electronic gadget that has 30 day non-manufacturer's warranty, also no 3G support on this one. Current Amazon price still beats the $369 Dell's for states that pay taxes on purchases from Dell, but not from Amazon, such as CA. Yes, price drops are to be expected, and now looks like a good time to grab a N900 if you feel this is a device you will like despite all the cons. My 2c.

Just checked today and the price is down to $400 on Amazon.

Just so people know, they can get a new one on there if they are shopping.

Is there even a point in buying a Droid unlocked? Is there a way to get Verizon plans for cheaper (like TMobile?).
