How to download and save webpages to view later offlne?

I would like to view webpages offline to look at them in the future, so when I go to save page as and choose save the whole page then go back into file manager to open up the save webpages it asks me what program to choose to view so I choose web and it comes up wanting a internet conenction so I ignore it but the whole entire webpage doesnt complete and show up.

Does anyone know how to save webpages to view them later offline?

You could use something like HTTrack to download (mirror) a website for offline viewing. There's a port for OS2008 (aka Maemo 4).

if you have firefox there are also a number of add-ons which do that.

e.g:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/144983/

the fenneck firefox version offers pdf support by default

here is the nightly builds
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o...-mobile-1.9.2/

to use it you simple load the page then click the web site favorite icon and an option apears to save as pdf

note: your fixefox installation will then be called fenneck

"Save Page As" doesn't work?

I do this from the PC and from the handheld all the time and just open the pages from the file manager.

It would be cool though to have something that would pull in the linked pages to depth <n> like Plucker for wiki pages and such.

At this point it is available on the the Extras-Testing repository. But, see here for a more detailed explanation of how to install it.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Easy_Debian#Install_instructions

You can then run IceWeasel, basically Firefox, whenever you want to save a web page as a PDF. Just go to File > Print > Choose Print to File > Check the PDF option > optionally choose the folder to save it to.

just grab the latest *armel.deb

then you need to install it in the normal .deb fashion.

i use myself an debian addon that allows me to double click such files to install but you might have to install it manually
