[Announce] - Cotchin! - An web based FourSquare client

Me and my friends developed an web client for N900's Maemo, here're some features currently availible:
  • HTML 5 Geolocation: You can browse nearby venue
    s:cool:
  • Venue: tips&todos, shout on venue
  • Privacy control: twitter, facebook...
  • Friends
  • Shout GUI enhancement: Easier to shout
  • History
  • Me: Friends, badges, info
  • User info: like the upper one
  • Friends: Invites, list of friends

Info about the app:
http://www.cotchin.com

Direct access from your N900:
http://cotchin.com/m
Please install Maemo GeoLocation first. You can download it from application manager or download it from HERE

If you encouter any kind of problem, feel free to let us know on our GetSatisfication page: http://getsatisfaction.com/cotchin

We are not English native speakers, so here're some how others say about the app for your reference:

Share your whereabouts with Foursquare, Cotchin! and the N900
"...works brilliant for the N900 because it's fast and very finger friendly..."

Cotchin offers a better mobile web checkin experience and support for Chinese users
"...design is much improved over Foursquare’s spartan mobile site..."

Cotchin.com - A New Client For FourSquare
"....a promising application...."

oh, by the way, we love MAEMO alot! One of the core developers is a N900 owner, he will make 120% sure that you N900 uers get as satisfied as he gets~ :D

Hey that looks really promising. Will have to try this out once I get more aquainted with FourSquare in general.

I think you have a real chance here to be the best "FourSquare content provider" for the N900!

Hi Mele,

I only got this problem when I use Cotchin at my desktop without wireless connect. Could you kindly try Cotchin again at outside with GPS active and feedback at here?

Thanks a lot. :D

Hey, can you make it more intuitive to do silent checkins, and disable twitter posts, etc.. otherwise, its an awesome webapp!!

I can't get it to work :( it never seem to locate my position.

Re: [Announce] - Cotchin! - An web based FourSquare client

Everytime I check in some venue, my "check in" is being posted on twitter and facebook.

This happens even when I donīt press the twitter and facebook logos.

Same here, 90% of times i try to locate myself, it locates me to Helsinki, about 450km away my true location

In our experience, the most common way to solve this is to reinstall the geoloaction add-on. :)

In my experience i trust to the developers and reinstall geolocation and try again :)

Well actually i tried it without geolocation addon, i forgot that i flashed my phone yesterday :D

hmm....and it still wants me to be at Helsinki :(

Would you mind telling me about more about your location and system info? Couse it should only happenes when FourSquare isn't yet availible in your country (FourSquare in now open to worldwide for a while). :( sorry that cotchin isn't working on your device, we will try our best to figure out what happened here.

I did a test on this, and i found the problem is that once you checked "When I check-in" in Foursquare's official setting page, your check-in activities will be sent to facebook and twitter even if you uncheck the icon. The quick solution now is to change the settings in FourSquare as the attached screenshot.
Attachment 10955

This could be an API issue too, we are working on a more intuitive solution... will keep you posted:)

this is a work around, but if I do that, I can't post on twitter the check in that I want to all my friends to know.

I don't think it is an API error, since Barriosquare handle with this situation and works very well.

agree with igorlt... works perfectly with gravity on s60.. and on barriosquare.. the only issue with barriosquare is that it takes too long to run.. Cotchin is much more awesome!!
