I'll buy a tablet that has a cortex a9 dualcore 2ghz with 1gb ram.

It would be interesting to see if current a9 chips clocked at 1ghz can scale to 2ghz, like the a8 in the n900 doubling in speed when overclocked.

why do you need an arm that quick??? Do you hate batteries?

That does look awesome, and makes me worry that my SmartQ V7 I have on order won't last long until replacement!

The price point I'll believe when I see it though, phones of that spec and competitor's tablets with that spec have been rumoured to cost more...

hmm, price is ok, tho i am unsure if i trust expansys after they sold me a US 770.

with 2.1 that thing may actually get marketplace.

I don't know. I don't think the price is right. For that price, I'll want a full OS.

no worse then the n800 sold for, iirc.

and what makes a os "full" these days?

So... it's arriving July 2nd, and the price is still 300 pounds.

Hm.

Could be a great on-the-go surfing tablet, its a shame the resolution wasn't higher(1024x600 or something like that).

that looks real nice, if the price was cheap i'd buy that in a heartbeat as a tablet.

wifi only and i'd pick that up over a dell streak.

This is now available at Best Buy in USA. Has anyone been able to put MeeGo/Maemo on it and still keep the 3G/WiFi working?

So you were able to put MeeGo on it without 3G/WiFi? If so, can you share the manual/docs you used to do it?
Also, were you able to keep Android on the device or at least back it up to restore later?

As I understand it, it is not yet possible to do a recovery image on the S7. Although it is being worked on.

I haven't seen anywhere that anyone has claimed to have booted anything other than Huawei images.

From my S7

Have you tried this?

Re: Huawei S7, 7" android tablet

Ahhh, I have read that thread, but it seems a little dicey to me. Besides I have no real interest in running MeeGo on anything right now. I'm not a developer, and MeeGo is still a developers' toy.

That said, I am quite happy with my S7 (another reason I have no interest in MeeGo on it). The battery could have been bigger. The resistive screen is fine, it got 512MB memory (not 256 as op says), can be o/c'd to 1GHz. Thanks to the folks at androidtablets, I have apps2sd hacked on, so there's plenty of room for apps. I have ADW with widgets, and have removed the stock Hauwei launcher. Replaced the wpa_supplicant file so it can see the ad-hoc connection from my N900.

It works well for what I wanted, in fact I use it more than my N900 now. As you've noticed, plenty of good info on androidtablets, and they're pretty helpful as well.
