Tired of seeing posts about people saying they will change to iphone, the door is wide open but don´t forget this list of simple stuff Iphone should do and it doesn´t, and N900 does:

I want to send a mp3 file over bluetooth ... oh wait ... i can´t
I want to download a file from a webpage to keep it on my cellphone... oh wait... I can´t
I want to attach a MP3 file to an email so I can send it to my friends.... oh wait... I can´t
I want to make a SIP call from my phone ... oh wait .... I can, but I have to open the SIP software before...
I want to make a video call to my friends computer .... Oh wait... my friend has to have an Iphone 4g ...
I want to have another browser I don´t like mine ... oh wait... I can´t
I have an "non 3g Ipad" and I want to connect to the internet through my iphone... oh wait ... I can´t
I want use my iphone as a 32 or 16gb Pen Drive... oh wait ... I can´t
I want to customize my desktop to my needs ... oh wait... I can´t and my grandpa´s iphone Is almost the same config as mine...
I want widgets so I can quicky access essencial Info... oh wait ... I can´t
I want to see the adress of one company but their site is made in flash technology... oh wait ... I can´t
I only want to be online everytime it detects wifi, my carrier doesn´t have a great data plan... oh wait... I can´t
I want to be able to delete data from the phone memory... oh wait ... I can´t, have to do it from Itunes...
I want to play videos on my phone without having to convert them... oh wait... I can´t
I need subtitles on my videos ... oh wait... I can´t
A friend on mine wants to see jizzhut or porntube videos online ... he can´t ... and he shouldn´t...


As you can see I´m not talking about Gyroscopes, multitouch and other fancy stuff, I´m talking about simple things.
If I left my N900 to an iphone I would miss this and much more.


I´m talking about a standard iphone , anyway, 90% of this stuff not even jailbroken...


I love my N900 but lets face it ... it´s not perfect, has some flaws depending on the needs of its user. Its like buying a Ferrari and say its too noisy or uncomfortable, for that kind of customer you have a Mercedes S500... but will have its flaws too, it won´t be quick and sporty enough .... Nothing is perfect for everyone.

Life must be dandy when you can buy a phone and let the phone company (not the carrier) tell you what you can and can't do. I am glad I have an n900

Come to New Zealand you can buy iPhone fully Provider unlocked. Which can we worked with all other carriers.

Do you guys really even need to start threads like this? I mean... for each positive point you've listed, I'm sure it will take just one disgruntled person - N900 owner or not - to respond and next there will be some hyper-nerd fight over which offering is best.

Different needs, different products. That's the summation of this entire thread in four words.

Another iphone hate thread..seems as common as N900 hate thread. Instead of posting garbage like that in these threads why not try to be useful and help others, or post ideas etc.

Just to be clear. I don't hate the iphone. I hate Apple. Totally different.

Half of your points are old and outdated from like generation 1 of the iphone, the other half work with JB (which you probably don't agree with even though you are on a Maemo board).

And yes there is no Flash support on the iphone.

Only the point about the widget is of note and I think you can do this on JB.

The difference is I can take down 90% of these points as working on the iphone. Its just the posters that are misinformed.

I don't get how the "No Flash" support is a bulletpoint. I mean, half of this forum hates Flash... they want to uninstall it, remove it, block it, or disregard it - despite others wanting the 10.1 Flash Player plugin like something fierce.

Anyway, music over bluetooth... slow. I'd kill somebody if I had to send over two CD's (ripped) over bluetooth. Try it, time it, get back to me on that one.

I feel that Apple is taking over the world with mediocre products. And somehow inventing already existing inventions..like a touch screen phone. or iPad (Tablet PC). I don't say that the iPhone sucks. It would not be true. But I do hate Apple. Yes. However this is only my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

And just to clarify: bad press for the iphone is still press. If you want the iphone to die one day..stop talking about it.

Perhaps you could enumerate them? I mean, there's only sixteen, it shouldn't be too hard to run through them point-by-point. It would be greatly enlightening for those of us who don't have an iPhone, and are stuck with second-hand reports at best.

I'd thought most of them are valid at least as far as the 3GS. Not sure what iOS 4 brings, so I wouldn't be surprised if some are invalidated by it, but I think few if any would be invalidated with the iPhone 3G or early releases. (Unless you meant "old and outdated" in the sense that everyone's tired of hearing them, not that they're now fixed, in which case I agree completely. ;))

As for jailbreak, I wonder why people who like a system you're encouraged to hack by the manufacturer would be say you can't count hacks which are denounced as illegal and actively countered by the manufacturer... after all, these are both hacks, so should be cool, right?

The "this is so sad" tag on this thread just makes me snort-giggle because it's so true. This N900 fanboism just conjures up the image of a bulky black N900 crying "I'm still relevant!" in a sea of peppier more popular devices.

I was born in 1989. So I don't know about IBM.. Microsoft..I never particularly liked them, but didn't hate them.

Apple just makes my blood boil. Sleazy marketing and all these fan boys. Microsoft never had these fan boys. At least not where I live. I constantly feel like punching them...

As for the topic, the iPhone shouldn't treat me like the enemy, but it does.

To be fair to Apple, HTC phones do as well though weakly, and Motorola has an entire research line (MotoMAGX) that uses SELinux and TrustZone to ensure your device is permanently crippled.

So yeah. Yeah. Boy, this thread is kinda lame, isn't it?

If I browse 10 webpages about Microsoft, 7 are bashing them about their OS being buggy, or slow, crashes etc.

If I browse 10 webpages about Apple, 0.1 is saying anything agaist their products. Apparently they're perfect. Until you use them and find out for yourself (I don't mean the Mac or iPhone crashes constantly..but perfect..no way).

You can use winterboard for other stuff

Iphone is pretty one touch but yeah I think you can set up home screen functions like "intelliscreen" but it locked up my iphone once.

EDIT: FYI - Hintry replaced Intelliscreen with Lockinfo & Cydget. I had heard of them but not used it due to my bad experience with a very early version of Intelliscreen.

Hmm..what happened before I was born doesn't really bug me..if so I would be pissed with England for involving us in WW2. Anyway I don't hate microsoft for one simple reason.

Everyone here uses Microsoft. A few users use linux. But the difference is that although they use it, they complain about the OS. With Apple everything seems perfect which bugs me. How could it be perfect? One of the greatest devices around..sure. But perfect? And arguing with Apple fan boys is like arguing with a woman. Even if you're right they will never admit it.

** Edit ** As imperial said you will never win this iPhone war. The iPhone can do a lot of things. It is superior in many aspects. You can't deny this. The only thing the N900 is really better (apart the obvious stuff like camera and browsing) is the liberty. I like that. I feel excited when I mess about with the N900. Jailbreak doesn't even come close to the liberty on N900. But this won't get mass appeal..but it certainly got mine.
