Nokia announced new software update
 
I got an sms from my mynokia with information about a new software update. (i currently have pr 1.2)

Did someone installed it?

What are the new functions?

Yup, I got an SMS from nokia this morning too. I was trying update from "application manager" but, it said "no update available".

I got the same message but i think that's some kind of outdated information on PR 1.2.
Neweset version on nokia.com/softwareupdate is 10.2010.19-1.

surely it can't be outdated information as Nokia would know who updated and therefore know who not to send the message to? Seriously if this is the case then I have lost all hope with nokia!

Not only do they take information but then they don't even remember what the info was... I know this may not be the exact problem but it pains me even more that Nokia is actuall smsing people about the update as if it fixes loads of problems when all it really does is create new ones... I love my N900 but Nokia as a business suck!

I got this SMS 20 minutes ago too. I have only registered a N900 no other phone. And now the webpage says there is no update aviable and at the application manager is also nothing.

WHAT THE HELL!? :mad:

I got that message on 27-05-2010 and I already installed PR1.2 at that moment. I think this is outdated information. Nokia, what are you doing?

I think they wanted to make sure that those who refuse to use the "normal" functionality to update are informed as well.

Its my guess that they meant to announce new update available by NSU to the people that aren't reading this forum or checking update manager on n900 (lol).

They must be totally confused at Nokia, or maybe drunk like skunk. That takes it all. Maybe some exec. noticed first now that someone had released PR1.2 and said, "oh has anyone informed public about this? Cool, I have to buy that new N900 tablet some day, my 3210 start getting a little bit old". wtf are they doing, is this their attempt to improve their information to customers? How about giving a little better information what's going on BEFORE every release?

I think is as simple as a reminder for people who do not receive the first sms in 27/05 or people who doesn't update when they receive the first sms,

Or, some Nokia employee who press the wrong button, trying to send a new sms and send this old one.

If only there was an update, I remember TMO would be the first source. It has been proven not once but thrice.

So guess we should ignore such SMS/mail.

BTW Since i bought my N900 and registered with Nokia, they were always prompt in mailing about their new releases.... but the release always lacked N900 compatibility. hmm...yet to see a mail on anything concerning N900.

You're normally only able to register to this service WITH the PR1.2 Update (except registring manually on the nokia website). So mostly only people with PR1.2 already installed are informed about the aviable PR1.2 update.

They should change the message:
"There was a update. You have already installed it. Congratulations!"

hope nokia have a new release on the why. I whould love to be the fool. But i'm pretty sure some parts of nokia missed the release of PR 1.2. insane!

I haven't received any SMS. Maybe because i unsubscribed from it on Nokia's web site. But i got email from Nokia week ago about update it was 23Mb when downloaded . But didn't pay too much attention i thought it same 1.2 with delay. When i connected phone to NSU it showed that phone is updated to latest firmware.
