Change automatical update check interval
How can I change (or disable) the interval which checks the repository for updates of installed applications if a connection is established? I would like to control it.
Thanks |
Re: Change automatical update check interval
gconftool -s -t int /apps/hildon/update-notifier/check_interval -NUMBERINMINUTES-

it would be really nice to have an option like with the mail client "only check when connected thru WLAN"

Re: Change automatical update check interval
1. So is there a trick to only perform the update if connected through wifi? Surely, in the actual script that does the updating we could wrap an if around checking whether connected through wifi or mobile internet?
2. Alternatively, if keeping it at 24 hours, then I would need the daily check performed overnight when I am connected through wifi. So I just need to dephase the actual check as it is currently performing at around 10am when I am at work and on mobile internet. If I run the application manager or perform an apt-get update at some time in the night, will this do it, or is the time of last check stored separately? A solution a la (1) would be preferable. Seems fairly simple, but I don't know how to check the type of internet connection available. |

@stochashtic
To reschedule your auto update time just run following command at the desired time: Code:
gconftool -s --type int /apps/hildon/update-notifier/check_interval xxxx PS. I was looking for a way to reschedule auto update, because it slows down my phone in most inconvenient time. Now I have set it to update at 5a.m. when I am usually asleep near my home wi-fi router. The idea actually belongs to another member of this community, but now I can not find the original post to thank him. |
Re: Change automatical update check interval
what value did you use to automatically update it on 5am exactly?..,
thanks.. |
