Problems with maemo 5 and any apps
 

Hello, i installed a lot of apps and some apps like plugins contacts protocols, xarchive, etc. never update.

The OS detects an update, and then i try update and appear a message that says: imposible install "name app" would you like to continue installing....?

I don't know how fix this, can sameone help me?.

- from application manager go to> up-date and check there for new ones.

I update from app manager and x-terminal. but the problem continue.

X-term as root:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

What exactly are the error messages you are seeing?

and what's the output on apt-get upgrade?

For apt-get update I do not see any issues that would stop an upgrade (update updates your package lists upgrade uses package lists to look if some of your installed packages has a newer version available and suggests to upgrade and does if you say yes)

Btw. is there any reason you trillionize your apt-sources? my-maemo.com has just the same apps as maemo but less and I don't think a QA watched version.

You may complain about a full rootfs and the easiest way is to remove all those unneeded repositories. And for what reason do you have mozillas chinook repo active? Fennec is already at the nokia repos...

The fix is quite easy.

Edit: /var/lib/dpkg/info/account-plugin-salut.postinst and comment out the 4th line - so that it looks like this below.

From an X-Term as root:
vi /var/lib/dpkg/info/account-plugin-salut.postinst
After that do apt-get upgrade and it should work fine.

Another possibly more permanent solution is:

apt-get install avahi-daemon
apt-get upgrade

Another error when i try install avahi-daemon

the command apt-get is executed in root mode.
I edit with vi the file init.d first. For install this daemon with apt-get

I should be undo edit init.d ?

Edit the file: /var/lib/dpkg/info/account-plugin-salut.postinst

Comment out line 6.

Then do apt-get upgrade.

Thanks for all and this community. The problem with upgrade are fixed.

And the update work fine.

The problem with x-archive is not fixed. Ever i search updates in app manager x-archive is not update.

And if i try with apt-get upgrade or update all process are correct and ask me for update x-archive, i answer YES and update the program, but if i run another time apt-get upgrade and update another time ask me for update x-archive.

In few minutes post results of commands:

apt-get update:
apt-get upgrade

hey, i tried the 2nd method.. "apt-get install avahi-daemon"
it says its already installed
i tried the first method but i cant edit anything
i cant type and i cant close it either
detailed instructions plz?

and am i the only one who has apt-get dist-update issues?

Me too, same problem.
Xarchiver is always presents as update.
Updating via terminal :

I also have the same thing (sketch/png media type complaint), and my app manager doesn't work - Faster App Manager does, but the regular one won't start up.

I keep needing to reinstall some other stuff to get the decoders-support working after every reboot - just restarting the trackerd/indexer don't help. kmplayer will play things fine but the built-in player won't play anything ("Operation unsupported" yellow error banner when I try to press pause and no result on any other button, just sits on the "currently playing" screen at 0:00)

Some other dbus stuff seems to be missing/not working properly.
