I find it very informative for us N800/Linux newbies. This article by David Chisnall explains how to turn the N800 into a security scanner/device.

I say the article is incomplete... He forgot Autoscann "nessus", btaudit, btexploits, aircrack-ng, and a few more... Not bad though...

And the tittle "Pimp My N800" kind of lame... Tools such as Metasploit are not toys...

Just my 2 cents...
A good start for n00bs though... I wish he didnt included Metasploit though but hey is there for the grabs any ways :D

If you just add that repo instead of downloading the debs you'll also find aircrack-ptw. I haven't used either (aircrack-ng/aircrack-ptw) so I don't know how different they are. Anyway I found the article useful.. I've been missing 'ping' and other simple essentials. Not anymore! :D

nether of both "aircrack-ng or ptw" work correctle... I just saw the blog spot of the person who ported ptw and he stated...

I don't know about a repo for aircrack-ng, only aircrack-ptw (which is implicit from the web page referred by the link in the OP: http://www.mulliner.org/nokia770/repository bora free), for aircrack-ng there's a link to a .deb in e.g. that blog you posted:

I've been hands on full-time since (monday) when I purchased an n800... the only working ported aircrack I've found thus far is from

I have yet to find any newer versions ported for the n800 than 0.5 (current release is version 0.9.

If anyone has info on a newer working release, spread the word!

Seri@ldie - have you managed to get a WEP key using only aircrack-ptw and Kismet?

I spoke to one of the three guys who wrote aircrack-ptw and he told me that you can only use aircrack-ptw with arp packets generated using aireplay-ng, so capturing a load of regular traffic packets wouldn't work.

Question ... I tried to deauth my laptop using aireplay (v0.51) on the n800 while running airodump and didn't catch any arp requests. I also used Scapy for about 10 mins the other day in an unrelated test, but it seems as if I can't do injection. Do the drivers have to be mod'd to support injection with the n800?
