Ovi Store - Qik Premium Released $1.99 US
 

It's official. The Qik premium version is out on the Ovi Store. What is the main difference though? anyone re-download it or download it for the first time? it says the resolution is high but wasn't it already high on the demo?

Any thoughts anyone on the premium Qik?

Thanks MASTER , I think it will have unlimited video and live streaming functionality as the version for EVO 4G does however I wont use that functionality so I wont buy it :)

I read the review on the OVI store and someone complained that it's the same as the free version and he wasted his money. Hmm.

thats kind of why i posted this too but hell flyer just mentioned you get unlimited air time and soem other features. i wonder if the actual quality is changed too. would be good to know if someone has a side by side comparison of the apps.

Yeah thats the main reason I was holding off til buying it. The most important thing to me was improved quality. :cool:

I might end up being the guinea pig for this just out of shear curiousity but 2 bucks isnt a huge dent either as long as I get 'A new' feature. we'll see. I'm going to give it a little more time for some exposure.

This guy posted message at Jun 29, but Qik starts selling only yesterday. Any way, if he bought Qik one time, he can upgrade to current. Current version has possibility to stream HQ (848x480) and Qik Premium.

I think they removed it once the premium came out. I dont see the free one anymore either.

I think i will get it today or maybe tomorrow. Not sure but i will do what i can to thoroughly give it a review from the current free one i have to the premium one that i will try to get so everyone knows what it comes with.

they actually changed the price and name off app cuz when i saw my downloaded apps. there was qik premium in the stuff that i downloaded.
i never bought anything from ovi

I paid for and downloaded the 'Premium' version a couple of weeks back when the wrong .deb file was on Ovi. I left a review on Ovi Store to warn off any other N900 owners, complained to Ovi, plus posted here on TMO about it. Ovi pulled my review claiming that it was against their T&C's but they also immediately pulled the paid application (which was a rip-off) - a result of sorts.

Qik Premium has just recently reappeared and I was able to download it a second time. I can confirm that this latest version is indeed a slight improvement on the original free one. It allows the option to select three different capture modes: Low (400x240) Normal (640x348) and High (848x480). It is also possible to download saved (uploaded) Qik videos to your device by logging into your user profile, picking a video and then saving it to file instead of opening it with Media Player.

I've tried streaming video and it's really only possible in the lowest video mode, even over WLAN. Videos Qik'd in High resolution take ages to upload to Qik's servers and will not stream at all. I can't realistically see that this current paid version is worth paying $10 for, $2 yes but $10 no.

u guys are all UN lucky who bought this.
cuz i got the free qik and its the same quality as the n900 camera
and it can stream live even with a slow connection

I just bought it for a dollar. I had to reboot for some reason before it would install, corrupt file.

hmmm.. that's weird.. i'm browsing around the ovi store and all i can see is the "recommended" apps. when i try to browse around any other section, they all appear to be empty. qik appeared when i searched for it though..
except, there's only a $1 paid app. no free version.
i don't know if it's the ovi store that's messed up for me or if they just pulled the free version and made the paid version a lot cheaper.. i'll have to check again later..
