Are there any Real high capacity batterys for the Nokia N900

As I have seen many that do are Fake

I've always thought it was odd that The Nokia N900 has the lowest capacity battery out of all of Nokia's maemo phones even though it has the most powerful processor

Yeah, the MUGEN batteries have a higher capacity. If you mean in the same form factor, I'd guess no.

The battery would need to be the same physical size as the original

I'd never buy a mugen battery

You need to put another cover over your nokia n900
it makes it look like a literal black brick

As far as I know of. None.

But you can get external batteries that have the benefit of charging other devices too. I bought the IMP880 for use during Otakon. And it can charge my Nintendo DS as well. :D

Same physical size = same electrical size, more or less. There's no new breakthroughs in battery tech that have hit the market since the N900 shipped.

Yeah, a literal black brick that still fits in my pocket fine and runs all day without even thinking about running low; I like it. If that's not for you, you're basically stuck with stock.

External chargers are the way to go for a couple of top ups per week near the end of a day, they can be as big or as small as you like pretty much...

If you need the power everyday a Mugen may be the only way to go even if it is as ugly as sin.

A spare battery and USB/Wall charger is another option but I think its a bit of a fail to have to switch the device off.

you can buy a second genuine nokia battery and change if your low.if i make a trip to poland(13 hours with bus)i take a second nokia battery in my bag...

I noticed a massive improvement in battery life after disabling widgets which like to poll the net for data: I've turned off the facebook widget and the foreca weather widget, and my battery hits two days pretty easily with light web, twitter, SMS and email usage, and a handful of short calls, and wifi enabled for a lot of that time. I haven't experimented properly to determine which is these widgets hits battery the most, though.

Of course, I can still run the battery dry within a few hours if I'm hitting it pretty hard. For that reason alone, I'd prefer a larger battery... but for now I've gotten rid of the requirement to charge every single night.

It's not as big of a fail as having to PLUG THE THING IN for HOURS when you need to charge it. I have spare batteries, an external charger and a Mugen battery. When I am leaving the house I switch out the Mugen battery. It takes 10 seconds to swap batteries. Plugging in your device to charge it means it is NOT a mobile computer while you charge it.

I think carrying around one of those things is much clunkier than carrying an extra charged battery or using an ugly Mugen battery.

Solar chargers are fun, though. For in the car or on the backpack.

Certain AA batteries keep their charge for a year which can be quite useful if you only need it for emergency use once in a while.

Btw, the first 60% charges quite fast, and the last 5% takes almost forever. Short top-ups whenever possible helps more than you might think. Obviously only applies to te high power wall carger and high power DC-10 car charger, usb from a pc is slow nomatter what ;-)

got me the mugen battery bout a week ago , loves the fat n900 now lol , can actually use it not worry bout it going flat , my biggest hatefull think about the n900 then

can now get hard out 4 hours + nonstop use still have 20 to 30 % battery left :)

And yes we've already debunked that one.

Folks, no magic here. Your battery needs mass(~volume) to store electrochemical energy. Without a change in technology, there's no putting more in the same space and mass.

Edit: Oops, that's what happens when you start a post and get distracted by your roommate for 30 minutes. :D

A little update on this: I've re-enabled the foreca widget but not the facebook widget. My N900 has been disconnected from all power sources since 08:30 this morning. It's now 16:00, and the battery widget on the desktop is still showing full.

Not bad. I'll point my finger at the facebook widget as sucking more power than it really needed to.
