GSoC 2010: transifex-mobile

Hello everyone!

As I previously announced in my blog, transifex-mobile is available for download in maemo-extras.

This is the thread for all the feedback. Fire away!

Project summary

This is Google Summer of Code 2010 project which attempts to implement Transifex client application for Maemo which caches strings locally and submits them whenever possible. In addition it could have capability of editing local translation files which would broaden usage cases for this application.
Care to give a short summary of what transifex is and why we should care? :)

Hi,

Really appreciate your efforts.

Some reporting:
- Upgraded from previous installation and now it starts up correctly. nice!
- Logging at transifex works correcly - error in the password or the name brings you back to the login page. Maybe add a message that it failed?
- If in the transifex account one did not set a last name it writes "Doe". Maybe skip it?
- if one choses to browse the projects only a few are visible. Searching though will bring more results.
- Would be nice to bookmark somehow projects one is contributimg. Will save lots of effort/search.

Those few comments for now to consider, I'll post more as I use it.

Thanks again.

Re: GSoC 2010: transifex-mobile

For all the newcomers: Transifex is used to translate Maemo INTO various spoken languages, now you can do it ON your Maemo device also!

I just updated the packages, following features have improved since last release:
  • Better icons so they would fit in better with N900
  • Clean up menus, for example "Exit" is unneccessary
  • Better undo capabilities, at least allow reverting to original string once in string editor window
  • Improve locking logic, for example "Forget changes" upon closing the file should unlock the file
  • Show translation completeness (percentage in PO file list)
  • Check internet connectivity

I need your help with promotion so give this package a thumbs-up here:

Re: GSoC 2010: transifex-mobile

Thanks for the update. Looks really nice.

Could you please check what is the problem and it doesn't want to display the project at:
http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/...ations/c/main/

I mean, it is possible to find it through search (e.g. search for N900) but it doesn't want to display any of the files, languages, etc.

Re: GSoC 2010: transifex-mobile

This is a known bug, this happens when application has many files for the same language. Fortunately there aren't many projects like that, unfortunately N900 translations is one like that. This is one of the top priority bugs at the moment, should be fixed very soon!

Hello.

This app looks very interesting to my taste as I had intention to start translating stuff.

Unfortunately, your application requiers qt4.7.3 to be installed. But the official qt version on N900 is currently 4.6.

Is there a possibility you change dependancies to qt4.6?
