After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
I have my n900 for three weeks ! :)
When I downloaded libc6 my phone, started to show "Internal error application callendar. Closed".. So cos of error I was going to flash my device and so I did ! I done all these steps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzTNNVBzgdQ and everything went well... When I switched my device on I had to set up my region ,time ,etc.. On desktop n900 displayed a small picture of a sim card with a red slash across next to the battery icon! Im using o2 (IRELAND) Im 100% sure that the sim is placed correct under my battery!! IS there any one who can help me to get back on o2 sim ? :( I will be very thankful for ur replies ! :) |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
Make sure you flashed the latest fiasco image. If you used an older than PR1.2 image the cellmo wont work. That could be the cause of you problem.

You need to get the PR1.2 image from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

Is there something wrong about that ? :) |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
Try flashing that and the latest eMMC image, though you will lose all data that isn't on the removable micro sd card if you do.

Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
I have had the same issue since I reflashed, and I have flashed my phone lots of times. I have tried every possible combination. It's driving me nuts, I'm on holiday with a 500 pound camera. this has to be a bug.
I used the wifi hotspot to install a different kernel, but I couldnt uninstall as it was stuck in a loop, thus I had to flash. Any more ideas? Should I try and reflash the kernel? |

It always deletes/ reprograms the CMT after it flashes, should it do that? |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
if you can, try switching to 2G. I'm experiencing same issue from time to time and tthis "solves" the problem.

Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
Yes and you need to flash the global first and then (without a re-boot) flash the emmc. This will get the N900 back to a factory state so make sure you have a back up on a memory card prefferably.
Read the excellent wiki for more info and a step by step guide (flashing will not work on 64bit versions of Windows). http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware |

Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
I have no internet so I rely on my N900 for that, I have this problem.
With my old N900 i re-flashed after I felt it was getting slow etc no problem, used the exact same files on the exact PC and now I get this sim-card problem, I am currently downloading all the up to date stuff and will reflash and hopefully re-post on here after I'm done using my N900 ;). Reason I am flashing is that my new N900 is glitchy and I don't like it, one example, the boot video of NOKIA with the hands was all glitchy etc. Once I flashed it it was fine (even though it doesn't recgonise the sim lol) So hopefully I'll sort it. Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
Okay it didn't work, but I flashed the 'third maemo release' file, just downloading the new one and going to try again. Using Bockersjv's method of removing the reboot command. Will update soon as I'm done.
edit: After a quick read, I have been doing it wrong, I flashed the eMMC first then the global. Woops lol. Will do it properly this time. Right, I flash the OS, without the -R, then it stays in flash mode as soon as i press enter for flashing the eMMC it goes out of flashing mode, goes asif it is booting (the little dotty light things) with no backlight, then just crashes. Any ideas? Wow this is annoying, it won't stay in update mode for the eMMC, IDEAS !?!? |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
have you traid simply waiting for a while. the dots mean your device has booted into a state where emmc can be reflashed.
|
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
It crashes and isn't found, it never done that before.. My phone works now though. I didn't get round to flashing the eMMC though, but I'm happy till I get home.

Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
Ok... Just so I make it clear on flashing of eMMC in the N900, please make sure that you have Nokia PC Suite installed. eMMC specifically equires the Nokia Cable Connectivity Drivers to flash it using the N900 PC Suite mode. I have done this myself.
If you are using Windows 7, and flashing through XP Mode, then make sure your XP Virtual Machine has Nokia PC Suite installed on it and when its searching for the device, click USB -> N900 PC Suite. (This is only for eMMC. Do not forget to flash the FIASCO image without -R first before doing this step) Dont bother about the dots hanging... Its just that your device is waiting for the eMMC blocks to flash itself. Make sure about the Nokia PC Suite being Installed. |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
hi all,
i'm having the same problem, i flashed my n900 as per the instructions in this post and it didnt work... i used the following : sudo flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f and once it exited to terminal i entered the following: sudo flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R BUT still the device didnt read my sim card :( any advice ? |
Re: After flashing my n900 sim card problem !
+1 here... I was having terrible problems after my new N900 got an OTA update, which led to WiFi being unavailable. My attempts to remedy that, led to a bricked N900 (in the sense that I neither had GSM or 3G nor WiFi, making the phone nearly unusable).
Today's attempt gave me back my 3G connectivity and ability to place calls. I flashed RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin instead of the previously used version RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin The reason for initially using the wrong version is that I simply was confused by the list order in the download page (the idea, that the "latest" release would be placed somewhere in the middle of the page did not occur to me, I thought it was simply a naming error, and that the "Third Maemo 5 USA variant for Nokia N900" was the most recent, even when the other list element read "latest"). Ok, logic isn't the same everywhere, and consequently I was confused. I did the eMMC flashing each time before doing the combined, maybe this added to the poor phone's confusion? I did not boot in between, though. Nevertheless, I am still without WiFi, will maybe give it a try tomorrow with another reflash of the eMMC. At least there is hope, after getting my 3G back, even the Wifi might return? If somebody would be able to help with getting WiFi back, please don't hesitate. Setup (for the moment being: Wireless distributed network, no security, which makes my hair stand on end, but I thought it might have been the routers WPA2, access control explicitly allows N900 to enter to all AP). |
