Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
Hello Everyone,
I havnt seen/heard of many problems with the kick stand, but for about the last week or so, when i hold my phone with the screen facing up, the kickstand drops out about a quarter of the way. i have the feeling that im missing the magnet that keeps it completely closed.. Has anyone had similar problems? |
Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
I haven't heard of anyone having this problem.
I think you're best off taking your device to a Nokia Care point and asking if you could get that fixed in the warranty. I don't imagine it to be a biggie to fix your problem! |

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
A few people have reported losing the magnets, I can see you have the one on the back of the phone, have you had a look to see if the magnet on the back of the kickstand is still there?

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
correct, the one on the stand itself is gone

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
3 options really;
See what your Nokia Carepoint says, Buy a new back or, replace the magnet yourself (guide here http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php?topic=20949.0) |

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
My kickstand doesn't go in completely, i have to force it. But fortunately, it doesn't drop out.

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
I had the exact same problem, but to my luck, the magnet from the stand had attached itself to the one on the back of the phone.
I was able to put it back into the stand a hold it in place with a small piece of clear tape. It sucks, that it has become loose, but with the tape, I haven't noticed the issue in a couple of weeks. |
Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
Interesting. As preventative maintenance, it might be a good idea to fill the gaps between the magnets and the plastic case with super glue or epoxy glue (although you'd have to be really careful to not get any glue anywhere it shouldn't be).

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
You could buy one of those thin bendable self glueing magnet stripes and cut it yourself and glue it in. Make sure its the right pole (+/-).

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
I just super glued the loose magnet back in place. it lasted a few weeks and came off again. one month on still going strong. Rubbish situation as I actually use the kick stand quite often.

Re: Kick Stand Problem, wont stay closed
If only the one of the stand is gone, theres no problem because it was iron/steel anyway. Its not magnetic. Only the one attached to the N900 istelf is magnetic (but not stronger than a normal refrigerator magnet). So ist easy, just glue a piece of steel/iron in it.
