HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
Please HELP!!! my N900 goes dead-loop after installing NITDroid.
I followed everything on the NITDroid forum to install android and multiboot my N900. After I finish the last step and reboot the N900 with keyboard out, there is only one option "1 - NITdroid on MMCp2 - 2.6.28.NIT.05" on multiboot menu. when I select it the N900 seems reboot and after NOKIA logo and some command lines it simply goes back to the same multiboot menu AGAIN. I tried go back to Maemo by taking battery out and reboot machine with keyboard CLOSED. however, it goes straight to the multiboot menu... I also tried reboot machine without memory card but still it goes to multiboot menu... it looks like I made the configuration of multiboot wrong by typo or something... so is there anyway I can fix it, like bypass multiboot menu? thank you very much in advance... |
Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
Press 0 to boot Maemo. You probably did something wrong if it ain't booting.
|
Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
Maybe next howto's should clearly state the 0 = maemo or introduce a step to copy the maemo item file from examples to the multiboot.d folder, so you have a maemo option in the bootmenu.
Lots of ppl stressing out atm because of this it seems :p |

Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
Thank you all very much for all the replies!
Yes now I can boot back to Maemo by pressing "0" in multiboot menu. but still is there any way, or somewhere I should look at to fix the deadloop problem? cheers~ |
Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
It's crazy, I almost reflashed entire device, because there is no clear option for boot back to N900's Maemo.
What an idiotic boot screen. Thanks to this forum I didn't delete my entire OS on the phone (because I had no recent backup, I would lose a lot of data). |
Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
I got the multiboot menu only once and now my n900 will only boot to the white nokia logo. nothing more. any options? or should I reflash and call it a day?
Thanks |

Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
What version of Multiboot are people using for dual boot with NITdroid? I tried adding it [Linux kernel for power user (boot image for multiboot)] both before and after "Linux kernel for power user" from both the app manager and the xterm and both said it was not installable in both situations. I'm thinking I may need to install the older version of the "Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users (obsolete)" and then the "boot image for multiboot" but who's to say? I can't seem to find a way to make multiboot work. I tried U-Boot but that bricked my N900 as it would not recognize Maemo 5 as bootable.
So what version of Multiboot are people using along with NITdroid and Maemo 5? __________________________________________________ __ I figured things out. I installed the NITDroid 2.7 installer before I installed the dependencies and when I tried to use it I was provided the list of dependencies which had not been met. I then used "apt-get install" for each of them and now have all of the dependencies met. Just need to figure out how to partition my MicroSD card.. Don't have an external card reader for MicroSD so I'll need to do it within the N900... if only fdisk were available... |

HELP! N900 STAYS multiboot deadloop after NOT FULLY installing gingerbread

Maemo (default) BOOTING - PLEASE WAIT Kernel: 2.6.28-omap1 Params (etc.): void - although there are 4 kernels around ... => does NOT boot & then goes black OR stays with NOKIA screen (i.e. cannot be turned OFF). Connection w/ PC (XP :: Windows explorer) results in on-off cycles and message "incompatible USB mode" Connection w/ PC (XP: NOKIA suite) does not work either. - "hitting" various keys or booting w/ U or 0 (zero) pressed doesn't seem to help :o - removing battery and/or restarting repeats the carussel @@@@... SHOULD I install any OS on scard (like meego:D) - but how, if I can't access N900 terminal? Pretty gruesome, isn't it? I would GREATLY appreciate any help!! FRM post 111 etc. |

Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
Hi
I upgraded the bfs-kernel and my n900 has gotten a reboot loop. First I had a multiboot prompt, I selected kernel-power v49 Then only the Nokia logo shows up and nothing more... Is there any way to fix it other than reflash? I've got no nitdroid EDIT: flashing the kernel worked like charm |

my attempts at following http://www.orient-lodge.com/node/4254 were frustrated by the flashed program halting with a non recognition comment: Suitable USB device not found, waiting I looked for advice about using the sd card to feed an OS to my N900. In this context I came across "comment 1" https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11306#c1 who talked of CHARGING THE BATTERY. My N900 ONLY SEEMED with its yellow LED to be charging, and to be "charged". A German source mentioned that THIS WAS FAKE if there was no OS of the N900 supporting a necessary sub-OS. After buying a DT-33 I charged the BJ-5 and finally IT FLASHED! (following http://talk.maemo.org/archive/index.php/t-35440.html) sudo /usr/bin/flasher-3.5 -F /home/go/Downloads/RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R 1.first start the flasher, it'll say device not found, 2.turn the phone completely off, don't turn it on, and 3.only after you've started the flasher, 4.connect the USB cable with the phone, 5.don't turn it on, press U?... It'll flash...(w/o pressing u) ((&w/o SIM-card) |

Re: HELP! N900 goes multiboot deadloop after installing NITDroid
I hate multiboot... The solution is flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R
