The following formats can be imported and exported:
- Microsoft Excel 2007 (.xlsx);
- Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls);
- Microsoft Excel 95 (.xls);
- OASIS XML, OpenOffice.org XML, StarOffice (.sxc);
- Comma/Character Separated Values (.csv);
- Data Interchange Format (.dif);
- Applix version 4 (.as).

Brilliant!

I've been using gnumeric via "easy debian" and this will make life much easier.

Thanks.

friggin´GREAT!
no more annoying toolbars that had to be toggled on-off-on go get rid of.
arrowkeys to change cells and direct input in the cells. (without having t tap the textbox)

again: GREAT!!!

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

Nice, just updated and has a cleaner interface. It crashed while opening an excel sheet that had pivot tables. Stopped crashing after the pivot table was removed.

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

Tomasz (and also Thomas), looks like you really worked on the issues I wrote down into the comments section of package version 1.10.2 ... :)

Now there is a bugtracker link, the toolbars show up as expected and also the UI is much cleaner than before. No need for my special keymap with a fullscreen key on my N900. Now I have changed from 1.8.3 to 1.10.* in extras-devel at last.

Well, the LP solvers glpk and lp_solve are still missing (as they seem to be external dependencies since some versions ago), but who wants to solve LPs on a mobile device anyway! ;)

Keep up the good work!

Any chance of changing this to a different key combo? Reason is that CTRL-Space is used for toggling the input method in MSCIM. Maybe SHIFT-Space?

Anyway thanks for the update - it fixed the bug which caused gnumeric to crash out whenever you tried to format a cell.

Many thanks for your work on this. I'm just wondering why you chose double-tap for these two things rather than a long-press?

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

This is a very nice package that has many useful features for
representing data. Thank you for your efforts. I did notice a few
problems when trying to make a graph. First, I am unable to modify
the X or Y axis label because the region on the bottom of the screen
where you would enter changes to Font and Style is out of reach of
the stylus.

Another thing is that once you do make a graph, so that it now
appears on the sheet, the "Ctrl+Space - toggle full screen mode
on/off" does not work.

I did not see any issues with full screen with graph.

BTW, its a brilliant app.. kudos to the developers.

Few screen shots and a small review can be found here.

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

OK, I understand the problem I was having with the Ctrl+Space.
You do not get full screen if you have selected the graph (you'll see
a little circle on each corner of the graph when you have done that).
If, for example, you tap in an empty box nearby, which unselects the
graph, Ctrl+Space will then work.

Customizing the font style or size is still a problem as the stylus can't
reach the controls. Any way to fix this?

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

I've just uploaded gnumeric 1.10.9-2. Which means:
* Gnumeric for Maemo updated to 1.10.9 version
* Fixed some problems with context menus
* Inserting charts is now possible
NOTE: new version of goffice library is required. Look at the first post for details.

I see this and a mini gnumeric version...are they essentially the same? is the mini more customized to the small screen?

Actually gnumeric 1.10.9-2 is much more customized to the small screen than minignumeric (which is an old gnumeric 1.8.3 without some functionality).

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

When you press the "down" do not change the active cell, reacts as "page down" the same for "up."

Is there no way to choose how to use the key?

By clicking "Enter" either to the next cell down (not important but those who appreciate it coming from Excel.)

Thanks for the hard work for the community.

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

New version (1.10.9-3) is available.
Changes:
* Some ui improvements
* Fixed autoformat crash

In order to use that version of gnumeric, please install the latest goffice library (0.8.9-2).

When you start editing a cell by pressing 'Enter', the 'Up' and 'Down' keys work as 'Pg Up' and 'Pg Dn' ;)

You can get it via the package interface and install it with dpkg, but it doesn't seem to be in the extras-devel repository. You will need both the libgoffice-0-8 and libgoffice-0-8-common packages.

As for now, this option is no more supported in Gnumeric for Maemo 5.

Can you tell me how to put me in a cell beneath the active cell without touching the screen? Only with the keyboard.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Try to use arrows.
In Gnumeric we have two ways of editing cell content using HW keyboard:
* press 'Enter', type some data and again press 'Enter' to exit edit mode.
* just start typing. When you want to exit edit mode press 'Enter' or one of the arrows.

This really works for me but my problem is with the arrows.

In addition cualdo pulse up and down arrows does not change the active cell, function as Forward and Back page.

Found the bug.

The problem is with the N900 keyboard in Spanish.

If I use an external keyboard with "-layout us -variant intl", it works.

Any help to fix it?

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade libgoffice-0-8 libgoffice-0-8-common

I assume this refers to the hildonisation? It's easier on the eyes and fingers but can they be made "nested". Right now if I click say "File" then click outside the menu I return to the main screen, what I would like is for it to back a level (so in this case it would show the top-level menu - File, Edit, View etc).

Thanks for this :) One small glitch, after enabling CTRL+L I had to restart the app before it would take effect - is this a bug or a limitation the system?

I'm not sure if it would be a proper behaviour. Sometimes you would have to tap outside the menu 3, 4 or more times.

It's Gnumeric limitation ;)

Re: [Announce] gnumeric - a spreadsheet application for N900

Thanks for the new release! I like the big menu entries of the main menu. Only drawback with this menu is that I am missing my recently opened files list. I have some files I open frequently and now I have to navigate to them every time.

Two more things I have noticed:

I had to update the libgoffice to ...-3 manually using "apt-get upgrade". Probably its due to the fact that gnumeric depends on this library with version ">= 0.8.10", not ">= 0.8.10-3".

At least in my install of gnumeric, the dialog "format cell -> data validation" (second-last tab in format-cell dialog) stopped working, all controls are inactive in this form. If I remember right, this did not work in the previous version as well, but worked in all other versions.

I am using this dialog to add little drop-down menus to my spreadsheets for value selection to "hildonize" them (to make them more finger friendly). ;)

Alltogether, great work! Thanks for all the efforts!
