wikitude - one of the better apps
I've just been messing around with Wikitude on a friends Iphone, it's a really cool app.
Been onto the wikitude website and see its available on ovi, but only for Nokia phones running symbian. I wondered if there's any news out there about it becoming available on Maemo? Thanks JC |
Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
I dont think so that app is kinda old since it comes from iPhone and most likely its not written in Qt hence no N900 support :)
since u already visited their webpage why not use contact us link and ask them directly? |
Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
No compass in N900.

wikitude.org/ennokia-launches-qt-sdk I think is realy cool. by the way is available on android also. problem with n900 is the missing digital compass, so none of these cool ar apps will ever work properly. stellarium app offers an interesting approach |
Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
Thanks for the responses all.
Wonder if it'll be supported by meego? Any talk of a bult in compass facilty on our much anticipated os upgrade? |

Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
Sorry, didn't realize it forms part of the hardware, thought it might be a software thing.
Well, that kinda answers that question once and for all. No wikitude (or any compass dependant) apps for the n900 then. Doesn't ovi maps, or similar map software, have a certain degree of dependancy on a compass facility? |

Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
AR apps don't require a digital compass. They just work alot better with one. For example, you could still use Wikitude (if it existed on the N900) without a digital compass. It would just take longer to show accurate information since you would have to move to get the compass to point in the right direction. And you can lock the orientation direction after you stop moving.

Re: wikitude - one of the better apps
Cheers all, very helpful stuff.
Makes you wonder if the successor to the n900 will have a built in compass. At best, it would only bring the phone up to speed with what competitors probably already class as a basic, dated function A bit like Steve Jobs getting excited about 2 cameras on the Iphone4!! Big deal, had that for years already!!! |
