The N900 doesn't care if you swap out sims. It still keeps the contacts and sms's in place. |
Re: new telephone number
One way I can think off is to modify the database... But that is potentially risky(it could corrupt it).

Re: new telephone number
I think you misunderstand.
I have the same number in my N900 but my friend has changed number ( got a new number from his new job) |

A bit risky you say? well - I got everything backed up. If anything get messed up, its a PoC to restore it again. |
Re: new telephone number
Have you added the new number as a new contact or another number on the same contact card?

Re: new telephone number
i think maybe he means SMSes that are stored on the SIM card? i have a few on my card but i never see them appear in the messaging app.

Re: new telephone number
no not SNSes on simcard
when my friend got a new number i added that to his contact card and then removed his old number. |
Re: new telephone number
I think OP means that after removing old number from his friends contact entry all the old SMSs linked to that old number are not shown.

I sometimes send sms's to my wife through google voice and sometimes direct through my phone company. they ofcourse show up in two different threads. This would need to be a setting to choose in the messaging app, whether to pool conversations for contacts or not. I can however only see it as being a messy affair in creating that selection. The sms's should still be visible on your phone though, they should just appear as from a "unknown contact", simply displaying the old number that he used to have instead of his name if you've removed that old number from your address book. |
