N900 Creaky Touchscreen

Hey Guys

I bought my n900 around four months ago, and everything was perfect then. Recently i,ve noticed that when i press the bottom middle section of touchscreen, it gives a creak sound. Tough sound is not much audible, you can feel the 'creak'. it can be very irritating sometimes, although the touch screen works perfectly there and i have also performed a dead pixel test. Sometimes the creak is loud sometimes its not very loud.

So any ideas how to solve this problem, maybe by tightening the screws or something like that. Thanx in advance

get a thin piece of paper and run it under the rim around the screen, the screen gets stuck to the grime.

Try this...
Lock your device (this stops the touchvibrate function), and try to see if it creaks. Sometimes i misstook the creak for the weak vibrate on touch function perhaps that's what is happening to you.

really just get a really thin piece of card, or paper, and run it under the rim with the nokia logo on it that goes around the screen, then the click/creak will go away
unless of course it is a really weak vibrate or you have screen sounds on?

No karimko actually theres a difference between vibration and 'creak'. thats why i have turned on vibration to minimize the effects of creak. so when i press that area the creak comes first then the vibration. it only happens in that area not any other area. anyways thanx for ur concern and plz advise me how to stop this menace

Where the screen is creaky, there might be a small gap between your screen and the metal rim.

You can gently press the screen on the side where you located the creaky sound and stick a small piece of paer between the screen and the metallic rim.

I get the exact same problem, I am convinced it's due to the screen protector not filling the entire front of the phone. the edges get full of grease and crud and it starts clicking and crunching.

I think the trick is just to keep it clean.
When it starts clicking I just wet a cloth and go round the very edge of the screen, pressing it in with my fingernail.

Seems to do the trick.

I have the same problem in the upper left of the screen. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Some people who have taken it apart and put it back together have reported a tighter slide.
Might be worth a go.

Re: N900 Creaky Touchscreen

yeah mine does it all the time, every time it happens run that piece of paper under it, to clean it out, what happens is the screen gets stuck to the mank and is lifted, when you press the screen its got a little way to travel and clicks when it makes contact, keep cleaning and itl happen less and less, but wont go away entirely, especially if you got screen protector cause the grease and dirt accumalates more

Wow! Thanks guys. I was going to to make a topic of this as I thought my n900 had borked too. lol.

Mine has been clicking for some time now too and I though there was some holding glue that had cracked :( Just tried the paper trick and now theclicking noise has finally gone.

Thanks again. It has been driving me insane
