It would be helpful if you could tell us what operating system you are using.
Linux? Windows? Mac? |

Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
Have you installed PC Suite?
EDIT: You should be able to view MyDocs, even though you do not have PC Suite installed. |
Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd

Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
That's a windows 7 issue (what a surprise)..
Method 1 (If autorun.inf file is present) Go to control panel then folder options. Press tab view and check view hidden files and folders. Then go to the device not opening and explore it. Look if you see autorun.inf and if present delete it. Then disconnect usb device from system and reconnect it. Method 2 (If autorun.inf file isn't present) Go to command prompt and write the following. attrib -s -r -h X:\autorun.inf press enter and then write del X:\autorun.inf press enter and after this disconnect usb device from system and reconnect it. Note: Please notice that X means the drive letter (F:\, G:\, etc). Source and credit: http://www.techsupportforum.com/1574527-post17.html |
Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
tried all of that and still nothing
although when i do connect the phone to the pc and select mass storage a message comes up saying "cannot connect, device storage in use" "charging". |
Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
So you're saying you could use this properly at one time, but now you can't?
To me, this sounds like a problem with the computer not the N900. Do you have another usb port to plug into, on this computer or some other one? |
Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
Sounds like a program other than explorer is trying to view folder, can you right click on n900 drive and click explore?

Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
Quote:
The particular message of which you've written above indicates the N900 has failed to close all files, so it can't give Windows access to the cards. Therefore, the N900 has stayed in Charging mode rather than switching to Mass Storage. Some application on your N900 is keeping files open and blocking the switch to Mass Storage. Look at what's running on your N900, and close applications that might be using files on the 32 GB storage or the micro SD/SDHC card. Then, try reconnecting to the computer and choosing Mass Storage again. |
Re: Cant access my computer/n900 hdd
Strange this started happening to me as well. Been browsing the N900 in pc suite since the time i got it 6months back. Andalso when connected in mass storage i could browse teh external card.
But few days ago i updated the Ovi suite on the computer and everything looked ok but suddenly i noticed n900 is not showing up in Mycomputer. I tried rebooting both pc and n900 but to no avail. So i found this thread. I dont think it has to do with deleting autorun or something. @adorit by any chance u updatd nokia suite or ovi? I connected my 900 on my laptop and it works there but not on my pc anymore. I've unistalled all nokia s/w and will again reinstall. Will let u know if anything worthwhile. |
