95% battery

My N900 is fully charged(green led light), but when I check it using queen beecon, it says 95% only. Is this normal?

Re: 95% battery

yes, the battery doesn't charge to 100% for several reasons. Look it up.

Re: 95% battery

It's just the battery meter being stupid..

5-10% variation from charge to charge with idle phone is also normal, depends how recently the phone topped up the battery after reaching full and switching off charger.

does the charger have any logic in it?
would never turning the charger off make any difference?
would using the charger from an n86 or n97 or using the old round style to micro usb converter make any difference?

Yes, the charger chip on n900 handles the charge and re-charge itself.
The thing you plug into your N900 is just a powersupply.
It's debatable whether the battery meter has any logic in it.

It would wear out your battery faster.

No. The thing you plug into the phone is just a powersupply. It has no logic in it.

What most battery meters usually do is show 100% when you unplug, regardless of the current true state of charge as long as it isn't wildly incorrect. I guess they forgot that part.

Re: 95% battery

there are 2 types of charge : low and high current
li-ion battery charging type is " voltage limit "
so low current charging type will put more power in battery because high current charging type will heat the battery and the voltage will be higher than an cold battery and charger logic will detect " end of charge " ( ~ 4.195 V ) sooner

inside n900 is a smart carger

Re: 95% battery

The charger does CC/CV to 4.2V with termination when current has dropped to approx 50mA. I say approx, because system load has an impact on what the real termination current will be at.

I got 98% for the first time, the day before yesterday. It went quick and dropped to 97% :(

Re: 95% battery

sorry for the bad post, earlier there was a thread about a drop in power due to reseting/rebooting the phone. I assume the thread has now been merged but for the life of me I cannot find it, does anyone know how I could find the thread seriously I get a million and one search results about battery drain none partaking to a reboot.

I just had to reset my phone cuz of ur average PR1.2 bug and my power dropped 20%!!! :(
