The best racing game ever?
 

I just wanted to hear your opinion on this. I personally think Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2 are the BEST racing games ever. And one more thing, did you hear about need for speed underground 3? Do you believe it's actually going to be released someday and what would you like to see in it?

For me it has to be Burnout Paradise, Gran Turismo 5 (prologue) for realism.
Never played the NFS series.

I'd have to say Colin McRae 5, and Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4. But Colin McRae Dirt has also a pretty good balance between arcade and realistic approach to the physics model.

has anyone else downloaded this game? i have it all installed but it wont see my xbox controller which is ashame. it states in the read me file that microsoft xbox controllers are allowed

Around 1992-1994 me and few friends had F1 Grand Prix-weekend ritual of playing the matching GP on that game before the real GP started on telly.

The F1 2010 looks really good. Can't say anything about NFS World because i didn't install it yet. But judging on screenshots i can say it's pretty attractive.

For me my best racing games are:-

Need for speed 1 (road and track) - ps1. a good old fashioned racing game with good car physics at the time.

and

this one is controversial:-

driver 3 - xbox 1. just sheer fun and absolute madness at times.

The Burnout series..that or Mario Kart. I can't play normal racing games (or sport games for that matter).

Yeah i like Burnout series too. But have you heard the rumors about Need for Speed Underground 3? If you did, what do you think about it and what would you like to see in it?

I've seen video trailers, and I know it's being developed by the same developers that make Burnout.

Never been a huge fan of the Need for Speed series though, I like Burnout for the crazy insanity (crashes, jumps, etc..) and takedowns. If Need for Speed can add that touch then I'm up for it. But if it just plays like the older versions but with new crash physics then meh.

Need for speed: Porsche Unleashed. Especially the test driver challenges were fantastic

Don't know about any games for Ubuntu since I've always been a windows user. But as you already know, windows is for gamers, mac is for creative ppl and linux is for developers.

Yep, that is a good shout and it plays quite good on the n900 on psx4all. :)

Yep, had some great times with that game too.

Try it on the megadrive emulator (pico drive) it works perfect. :)

Burnout 2 (XBOX 1)
Daytona USA (Dreamcast)
Speed Devils (Dreamcast)

I used to annoy the heck out of one of my ex-girlfriends by singing that! Over and over! Back in the Dreamcast days lol.

Unfortunately I have a pirated copy for my Dreamcast now and that song was cut out I guess in order for the Disc Image to fit on a standard CDR. :-(

I've also tried to work out who the singer sounds like, and the closest I can get is to David Coverdale from when he was with Deep Purple.

Depends on what you want.

I mean, if you want simulator, probably the best is Gran Turismo series.

If you want arcade, i have to say Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 (like Zero but better graphics, in ps2) and NFS Underground.

I almost forgot to put the Motorstorm series, this is arcade too, but just too awesome.

"Best racing game" is too vague.

Live for Speed (LFS) @ lfs.net is one of the most realistic simulators out there.

GRID is an all around great racing game.

The NFS Underground series is great arcade gameplay.

edit:

As everyone already knows, the GT and Forza series are the best when it comes to simulators.

Nothing has ever managed to top Richard Burns Rally, IMO.
