Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

Nokia is offering $280 trade-in dollars towards a new n900 when you trade in an old phone. I figured I'd post this for anyone looking to pick up (another) n900.

$479 list price - $280 trade-in value = $199 for a new n900

http://www.nokiausa.com/nokia-deals/...n900sumsavings

Use Code: ffsummer2010 for extra 15% discount.

Reposted from slickdeals.net. Thought this would help out fellow members of this forum

*EDIT*

$199 is the maximum price for the n900. They'll also give you the value of your phone. E.g. If you have a n97 mini they'll give you an extra $100 ontop of the $280 dropping the final price of the n900 to $24.

For $200, the N900 makes a great media and game device- even if you do not use the phone features. I use mine just for media and games.

Media I could see, but Games? There aren't that many Games compared to other platforms and $200 could buy you a PSP that does both. =P

Emulators my friend ... emulators

Ah, I've found the emulators have a wide range of performance. And even then I think the PSP has a better emulation scene.

That's on top of the $280 and 15% discount ;)

Hmm, can I trade in my current n900 for a shiny new one ($111.60 trade in value)? If so, with the addition of a few other old phones (we can trade in up to 10 phones), this could be free for me...

bah, a rebate. hate rebates. Would rather $100 off than a $200 rebate

What's wrong with rebates? This seems like a nice offer for the new buyers.

Rebates aren't a trustworthy discount. You rely on too many thing to go right AND the time involved before you get back your money is often open-ended. In case you didn't know, most retailers really prefer that you don't get the rebate.

Good enough :) Not that I am going to purchase myself another N900, just wondering to buy as a gift to someone. Better to look for other ways then.

Best thing about this is it probably means they are clearing out inventory. That probably means Meego / Maemo 5 / Harmattan coming soon.

Hopefully, they'll be smart enough this time around to make one WITH and one WITHOUT the costly cell phone radio. Ahem.

While I agree that I'm increasingly happy every day that I didn't buy one and I prefer my Motorola Droid's experience, you have to admit that the N900 is still not a bad little device compared to most. Especially if you're into Linux, scripting, Python/Perl/etc.

You sure? The $289 states "If applicable". It seems like any discount is based on "what you have to trade", and is not guaranteed.

Not bad? Perhaps I am missing something, but if you are into "Linux, scripting, Python/Perl/etc" I would say N900 is the ONLY choice. A comparison is not even possible at this time.

I also don't like rebates but I hope it is a sign of N900 dropping "standard" price to get additional units.

That or you never get your rebate.

Not bad. It's probably one of the best choices, but not the only choice, no. Many comparisons are, in fact, possible. Whether you like it or not, it's possible. It's best to keep your mind open to such possibilities instead of dismissing them, if you're ever to notice them at all.

I, like others here have mentioned, doubt they're doing this to do much more than just clear out inventory in preparation of the newest device to replace it soon. Otherwise, maybe Nokia is just sick of the whole thing and going back to Symbian phones. ;)

I just bought one. Traded in an old Siemens phone, got $0.00 for it, but did get the $280 rebate receipt. Actually I ordered a N900 from Dell for $350 a couple of days ago, but got an email today saying that the shipment will be delayed and I can cancel the order if I don't want to wait. Guess what I did:)

Roger that. Mine got wet and the LCD backlight is out. It still functions but is really dim, and only visible if external light shines on it. Not sure I want to spend $100 on a new panel, if something else is shorted. $199 for an entire unit may be feasible. But as stated, rebates can be whack.

Re: Nokia n900 for $199 from NokiaUSA

Trade in price for

Nokia 770 = $13.89
Nokia n800 = $29.40
Nokia n810 = $67.20
Nokia n900 = 111.60.

you can replace you old n900 with a new one for about $90 plus tax, I am thinking to trade in one of my old 770.
