Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Dear Maemo Community,

I thought its time to create a new thread to collect informations about the game compatibility with Mupen64Plus on the N900. Quite a few games run already very smooth and playable on the current versions of MupenPlus, still you need to try around 10 different games to find one smooth working one.

Here is a example how you could post your informations:

Quote:

Mupen64Plus Version: 1.5-Dev (Aug10)
Specific Mupen64Plus Settings: No Sound Plugin, Frameskip 1
Speed of your N900 CPU: 900MHz ULV
Quote:

Game - Super Mario 64:
Playability: 5/5 (Smooth and stable running)
Graphics: 4/5 (Nearly the same as on the N64)
Framerate: 5/5 (40-50~ fps)
Sound: 1/5 (Very laggy and quite annoying)
Comment: Very playable, just the sound doesn't works correctly
I hope that we get soon a thread with a lot of playable games :)

This is juste copy paste ( Mupen64plus version 16July).

At 900MHz the sound is enabled, frameskip = 3.

California Speed (graphic ok) (audio break every 3 second)
Super Mario 64 (graphic ok) (audio ok)
WWF War Zone (graphic ok) (audio break every 3 second)
Top Gear Rally (graphic ok) (audio break every 3 second)
Formul 1 World chompionship (crash to menu)
1800 Snowboarding (graphic ok) (audio break every 5 or 10 second)
Ready 2 Rumble (graphic bug in the menu) (audio ok)
Goldeneye (slow) (audio break every 3 second)
007 The World Is Not Enough (graphic bug, no weapon display) (no audio sound)
Destruction Derby 64 (error SEGSIGV)
Perfect Dark (bug, it crashes in to the menu) (audio break every 5 second)
Re-volte (very slow) (audio break every 2 second)
Spederman 64 (graphic bug) (audio break every 3 second)
Resident evil 2 (do not start)
Diddy Kong Racing (do not start)

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Rayman 2 works fine, it is quite smooth in my opinion.
But -.- in the first level there's a switcher that you have to activate, and for some reason it doesn't work. You can try on and on and on, but nothing will happen.
It's a pain in the ***, I was very happy comparing my Rayman version with the Nintendo DS one (my little brother is playing all the time), and now X_x

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Just FYI, Mario 64 with javispedo's audio plugin is a real treat. The sound is great and performance is basically fullspeed.

Mario Party (EU) works, but half the graphics are missing making it unplayable.
Super Smash Bros (EU and US) works, but it's pretty slow.

I think I use default settings, but without sound. The thing is that I can't change the frameskip settings and all that, I don't know how to do it.
Rayman 2 works, but it takes a couple of seconds to start. When I tried it for the first time I thought the same: It doesn't work, there's just a black screen.
Try waiting about 30 seconds, and press start button all the time.
Good luck ;)

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Lol the pointless thing about this thread is half the games in the above link PLAYED on the old graphics plugin (they were unplayable, but they didn't crash). As such I still believe a thread like this is pointless. Should you want a working/non-working list use the one for the Pandora (I linked it in the main thread a few times)

EDIT: Also a thread is a stupid place for this, someone set up a tabulated wiki page, even a google spreadsheet. Something to allow tabulated data with user comments Ie. on how to get it running.

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Can the OP update his first post in this thread with the info that's been provided? Then when it gets to 3 gazillion pages long, only the first post needs to be checked for current working games list?

And please mods - don't merge this with the mega mupen64plus post, otherwise this valuable info will be lost in amongst pages and pages of chat.

:)

Sure that's a good idea, I will edit the first post when we collected more informations. I personally hate to read hundreds of pages till I get the information which I want (The general Mupen thread is a good example).

Great. Looking forward to your contribution of a Wiki page appearing. Please keep discussion about your problems running mupen64 to the gazillion post thread - it would be of great benefit to keep this thread for a working/non-working games list.

Theres no discussion, I was just adding my 2 cents that there is already a compatability list. Here it is by the way:

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Sorry to agree with IzzehO - but lists like these are really best put into a structured wiki page for readability and maintenance.

jedi 2010-08-26 13:29

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Yes I agree - a structured, nicely formatted wiki page would be a better solution. Even better if it does the ironing, brings you beer and has lasers on it.

But until then, surely an easy to find and easy to read forum post well maintained would be preferable to a gazillion post long thread mixed up with loads of other discussion related to mupen64 working.

Don't worry - twarlti/lzzeho - no-one will force you to read it if you don't want to. Just some people here might find it useful.

He might of meant the simple PA plugin, which does appear to be better than JTTL for Mario 64. The only reference I could find of a javispedo plugin was in this thread.

Try playing it with the sixaxis controller. I've got 97 stars on my file :)

Also, some people are reporting that they can play smash bros at full speed. What are the best settings for playing it? I have frame skip set to 3, and overclocked to 1GHz but it plays at about 75% speed.

In the config file it says that frame skip is no longer used. Is this true?

Re: Mupen64Plus Working Game List

Has there been any update to making a wiki with a list of working games? I can say with certainty that the Pandora compatibility list linked earlier in this thread is not accurate vis a vis the N900, nor even adviseable to be used as a reference.

I found lots of games that were listed there as "not working" to work fine. Also, there are tons of N64 games not even listed there, so it's pretty much useless - except possibly as a list of "working" games provided as a good place to start for newcomers to Mupen.

So how about it? Any of the gurus here up to making a nice N900-Mupen compatibility wiki? (please don't ask me to do it, I have neither the time nor skill/undstanding of this sort of thing).

Well, yeah. Not all of them was me who updated, but all
the ones I wrote, I tested my self.
I am sorry if this is not the exact answer to your question, I might
have misunderstood...

I also tested the ones I wrote into the wiki myself. I tested on stock speed, so power-kernel users might get better results. Also I tested each game only 2 times, and if it failed both I reported them as "not working", so there may be a way to make them working.

Always open them by double clicking the rom name,
and if you change the game rom you are playing,
close and open the GUI again.

Wave Race 64 v1.1 US
I'm using power kernel @ 900 Mhz to have smooth graphics & audio.
Mupen64 is 1.5 dev, Graphic Gles 2n64 v0.0.4, Audio pa64, Input blight's SDL input plugin 0.0.10
Main settings : Dynamic recompiler (the rest doesn't work for me)

I feel like playing the real thing at full speed. No problem really (audio break every 3 sec).

i used the cfg from the mupen64 thread I would say it runs at about 22-24 frames most of the time but its totally playable. its actually to bad gles2n64 0.04 gives me errors on almost every game because its much faster. on zelda its full speed but it gives me that dumb sigsev error when I start a new game
