Do I get correct that even after reflash your phone still have this problem? Or you haven't been able to flash it?

I do not understand completely. So you flashed your phone and sim card is not detected? If so then what image did you flash? Newest one? List filenames if possible.

yes it's second hand.. but i used it for 2 weeks normally...
then start to do this problem.. and say this messagge in yellow (same color when you install some apps) and then i try to reflesh with

RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin

and

RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin

the phone is not stolen because the owner give me also the sygic serial number in his own page.

did you use this guide:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

First flash Combined(rootfs) firmware to n900 (do no use -R switch) then flash vanilla(emmc).

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

I have the same problem too. I reflashed RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin and then reflashed RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin. After reflashing was done successfully, making calls and receiving calls could be done. However, all calls will be disconnected suddenly. All calls last no more than 10 mins. Today, making calls and receiving calls are disabled aftter "All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disables due to a communications error. to recover, you might have a reboot the device." was shown. It seems that this problem can not be solved by reflashing rom. Any suggestions?

Check if your phone still has an IEMI number, either in Settings - About product or by typing *#06# in the phone app.

If it is missing then your phone needs to go back to Nokia for repairs.

Is it a hardware problem?

I have two suggestion:
you haven't locked the sim card,
you flashed with the wrong RX release, one didn't worked for me...

Just experiencing the same problem today. Message saying All phone functions disabled etc.. Got it a little wet today by rain, went off after 2 hours when I got home. Hope that slow drying will sort it out. If not?

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

you need to put the phone and the battery in dried rice and leave it for a day or so

I have the same issue. Can you please point me in the right direction as which pins you are talking about exactly? Maybe use the following picture:

Thank you.

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

You can't go by that pic, you will need to disassemble your N900 to be able to carry out the 'fix'. The antenna connectors are inside the device, underneath what you see in the pic.

Yes i know that. I did disassemble it. It is just a matter of which pins I should be looking at since there are more than just 2.
Can you maybe point them out to me using this video?

1 Attachment(s)
That vid doesn't help. Have a look at the attached pic.

2 pins in red box and 1 pin in yellow box: bend all 3 slightly upwards away from the circuit board, they should then make better contact with their corresponding pads on the antenna module.

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

Just checked the Service Manual and it specifically mentions this procedure so you should adjust all 3 contacts; the 2 together are grounds, the one on its own is the feed. Hope this helps solve your prob.

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

This did not work for me, but thanks for the instructions. By the way, when my phone started doing this (sometimes it says "unable to connect to network. Contact service") on startup, and others the "all telephony...." message, but what I tried was changing batteries. At the time i was using an extended battery, so I went back to the OEM battery, and neither messages appeared again, and the phone was reading the SIM fine. Then a few weeks later, it started going on and off, meaning it would be connected fine and I would have strong signal, and then it would lose it and give me the no SIM symbol/ display a message. A few days later, it kept giving that message/ not reading the SIM. Today I tried this method, it still comes up with the "telephony" message. I have tried flashing it using multiple other files (many times), PR 1.3 mostly, I have changed my SIM, my carrier is T-mobile. Any other ideas? Thanks!

It would probably void your warranty if Nokia knew that you had disassembled your device: but as there are no seals to be broken, provided you made a neat job of whatever you're 'fixing' I can't see how they would know it had been apart... unless you left jam butty fingerprints all over the internals :D

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

Try a cotton bud dipped in alcohol/lighter fuel, rub it gently over the uppermost rounded prongs of the SIM card contacts, give it 5 mins to dry and reinsert your SIM. Also check that all 6 of the prongs are raised the same amount, you may find one that has somehow got pushed lower than the rest. It's worked for me with other devices in the past...

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

I got this problem about a week ago, it started intermittently but now it never reads any sim I try.
I also lost IMEI number for a while, actually at first even the word IMEI disappeared, then that came back with no number, and finally I have both again.
AND my App Manager screwed up so I couldn't download or uninstall any apps, but I fixed this by disabling all the catalogues and rebooting.

I only got the phone around 3-4 weeks ago from an Amazon seller so I emailled him first, and he recommended flashing using NSU. I couldn't do that because it won't work in offline mode, and the phone won't read my sim card.

So I flashed eMMC and firmware using "flasher-3.5.exe", was a lot easier than I thought and it seemed to work fine. But I still get the error message and still won't read my sim :(

The strange thing is, at first I had the sim icon with red line through it all the time... but now (since BEFORE the re-flash) I don't get that icon when there's a sim in the phone. But I still always get the error message and the phone doesn't ask for my sim PIN when it boots up.

Does it sound like dumpystig's contact-bending method would work for me? Why wouldn't the phone ask for the sim card's pin number, even if it can't connect to its GSM antenna?

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

This isn't IMO related to antennas.

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

feed is one of the pair of contacts, see copper trace running to testconnector nearby.

If it doesn't ask for PIN though it's supposed to, then you either got a bad SIM, or bad SIM contacts (both the pads on SIM and the springs in N900) or your RAPUYAMA modem chips suffer from bad soldering or other chip internal errors.

While you can fix the SIM contact issue by bending and cleaning ([blue rubber-]eraser with sand is good for strong cleaning, a thin unvarnished paperboard - like some business cards are - for gentle cleaning), you can't do much for the soldering problems, except ask some repair shop or send in to Nokia for warranty replacement.

Seems this is a widespread problem.

good luck and cheers

had recently the same error and no imei shows on device/ about+no pin request when starts. Reflashed whit latest global fiasco, but the problem remain. Then i reflashed(like i always did before)whit latest UK fiasco, restarted and it works like a charm!Maybe i am lucky and i don't have the hardware problem (althought my phone is 4 years old) but all of those who didn't try to reflash whit Uk version it's worth trying!

Re: Help!! N900 All telephony functions disabled

I bought an "almost new" phone here on TMO, among the many problems was inserting a tight fit double scud battery would make the SIM go red-line after about half a day.
Try a different battery, it probably wont work in your case but worth an attempt.
