Not enough space in application install memory. (N900)

Hi

I have a problem! Over the last 24hrs I have been unable to install any applications. I keep getting a message saying,

"Not enough space in application memory. Uninstall some applications to free up enough space for this installation."

I have uninstalled lots of applications and I have 22.84GB of free space on my N900 and 1.24GB of free space for installable applications according to file manager.

I have also noticed it has effected my SMS. I can send and recieve SMS but it will not save them as a conversation.

Can anyone help!

Thanks in advance for reading this post!
Col!

Go here:

Grab the script on number 2 and save it.
Place it in /home/user/MyDocs/

Then start x-terminal and type: sudo gainroot
Then this: sh /home/user/MyDocs/moveroot.sh

Reboot

This will free up a lot of room.....
If you are not on firmware 1.2 then do that first

Uninstall ioquake (if installed)...
Also disable devel repository, and the others as well except extras) and uninstall some other big apps...

After my option, reinstall them

OK I think that has fixed the problem!

I deleted soem apps that were quite big and then downloaded Rootsh and followed the 1st reply in the post.

This seemed to work fine! SMS are now comming through and saving and I have reinstalled some apps!

Hope this helps others!

Big thanks to rolan900d for your help!

Cheers

dude were u able to install all the applications that u uninstalled to free up space on rootfs? I mean I love games like quake so unistalling it is a major loss for me. Is there no way to install games and applications that take more space onto the eMMC 27 GB memory rather than the 2gb application memory?

Ive just started to have the same problem. I tried the script but it hasnt done anything to help. Nothing at all will install or update even though the update is only 114kb. In the settings i have 124.3mb of installable space and have not long had to reflash to pr 1.2. I have only installed a few small apps since.

Hey you guys. I had the same problem. I couldn't install anything using app manager. I installed the faster application manager using sudo gainroot
apt-get install fapman
and I tried installing another app using the original app manager after installing faster application manager and I was able to install apps again. I don't know what happened but it could be that installing fapman did something.Just wanted to let you guys know.

Yes,I sometimes find that temporarily switching from one to the other solves problems. Fapman is not always the hero, sometimes it's App Mgr. And of course sometimes it's something with apt-get update.

Hi

I am not very technically minded so if you reply please keep it in fairly simple terms!!

I have the same problem as the initial post holder, cannot seem to get any new apps downloaded and have removed loads and have the space. Have tried to options listed here and have had no luck!

Am running on 1.2.

Cheers

Andy
