Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
When I try to log into Twitter using Witter, Tweego, Hermes or chat through N900 my phone tells me that I either cannot log in or Username/PW is incorrect (although I know for a fact it's right). Is Twitter no longer working for the N900? If I try to log in via the browser it's fine.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
yea, i started getting 'rate limit exceeded' errors using mauku, and it stopped updating. i then installed the conversations plugin which refuses to connect at all. web does indeed work fine.
i did get an email from twitter stating that they were making some changes to apis so that's maybe the cause. |
Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
Most likely something to do with the change is oauth - http://dev.twitter.com/pages/oauth_faq

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
Twitter recently changed their authentication protocol for everybody. So all 3rd party clients for any device and computer that has not updated will not work.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
Mauku stopped working for me today, it keeps telling me "rate limit exceeded".
Also, my tweets older than 5 months have disappeared (again). I'd say Twitter has screwed up something, once again. I'm starting to get tired of their goof-ups. |
Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
I bumped into a problem with witter. I'd forgotten to configure OAuth and witter just hung on startup when trying to retrieve my timeline. I've posted a bug report about this.
If anyone else bumps into this problem I solved the issue with witter hanging on start up by opening xterm and typing: Code:
mv .witter .witter.back |

But I am having bigger problems with searching than ever. The forever problem is that Witter doesn't save searches. But when I search for one thing then another, Witter doesn't get rid of the previous search! So when I do a search for #N900 and read the tweets then I search for #kindle The #kindle results are mixed with the #n900 results. I don't want that. In fact, when I run Witter on my N810 I like how it works in some ways better than on my N900! |
Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?

but once i close it and reopen witter.. it stuffs up on me again and does the exact same thing trying to startup and retrieve timelime.. so does this mean i have to go to xterm every single time i wanna use witter? |

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
it would be really cool to see tweego updated soon. :-)

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
Im using TweetGo.net and Hahlo.com, really brilliant and flashy light web clients, much more stable that the latest Witter and Tweego builds

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
@bravomike67 the problem happens because witter stores the wrong credentials in the .witter and when witter starts it can't authenticate with those creds. Moving the .witter file out of the way causes witter to start with no credentials.

Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
I'm having similar problems with Twimgo, Witter, Tweedsuit and Khweeture (forget the spelling of the last one). I get a 404 authorization error message and am asked to check the username and password. They are correct. I have been using these programs for years with the same info. I can open a browser and access twitter with no problem. Suggestions?
Edit: jpala16 comments in the Twimgo thread that he removed Twimgo and then "I realized that some packages were said to be not necessary. A lot of packages named as "libqtm-11-*". Today I uninstalled them, saw that fMobi stopped working, and installed them again by installing "libqtm-11-declarative". The rest were installed as dependencies, I think. Now TwimGo is working." I have a feeling my problem is similar, but I tried his solution a couple of times and it didn't solve my problem. |
Re: Anyone else having problems with Twitter?
My problem appears to have been fixed by software updates. At least Twimgo seems to work now.
