This should probably be keep in the original thread. but if you insist on a new thread, why not give more information? Like a link to the source code...

TBH, I wish it was easy, i'd do it myself.
But it's just a too large project...

i'll donate 50$ for a working project, even though I am soon getting the galaxy S. And bye bye n900.

Edit :
PS niv, if nitdroid manages to get GPS + calls + sms working, you can just use nitdroid with waze and good reddens maemo.

Waze is working just fine and beautiful on my N900, under nitdroid. picture is coming... Since I dont get it to go to maemo, or not as directly, can i negotiate a partial bounty, like 50 cents?

More info here, http://forum.nitdroid.com/index.php?topic=373.0. pic here, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...389#post816389, thread #394

How much do you think it's be necessary?

And most important... Who have the skills/time/wish to do it?

Re: Raising funds to port waze to maemo

So that's a current hypothetically-promised $250 donation pool? That's certainly enough to give some people who have the skills and time the wish to make it happen. Perhaps you can prod the actual developers of Waze about this? (Edit: Naturally you may need to actually convince them of the legitimacy of these donation pledges, but they may just take up the task on benefit-of-the-doubt+demand alone.)

Not enough money...
Not enough support....

Interesting application! I'm doing myself application for routing problems but for other ( harder ) problems.

AFAIK this app is more a social app then a routing problem app. IMO from what I've read its just recording the users position and speed and gathering it in a central database where everyone can get an account.

Maybe they use the harvesine formula to find some users.
Unfortunatley it's not explainend very well and there isn't an API documentation although it is open source at least the source is available.

About the source: I'm not very good in C and also I know little of Linux / Maemo but it is good that it is in C. But a big problem would be to port the screen functions because Android don't use X-Server.

That's just my opinion.

Adding $10 for a complete working version in the repo's!

Someone, preferably OP, should develop some guidelines and keep track. Really into this way of encouraging!

I looked at it and i managed to build libguiroadmap.a libroadmap.a on linux using a few fixes ...

http://waze.s3.amazonaws.com/src/waz...an_src_2.0.zip

Doesnt the project use a scm ? if not i can setup a repo, but i wont have more time to commit a single patch "waze_wm_symbian_src_2.0~rzr1.diff" ...

Send me a N9x0 and I promise i will look at it deeper :)

scm=software configuration management or a repository with version control or revision control: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revision_control.

Do you have PR1.3 installed? or CSSU?

Edit:
try installing the requirements manually:
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install libqtm-12

if that works for you, I will update the deb requirements so that it will install them automatically if needed

Thanks for the fast reply. Both. Should not the program get the lib automatically? I can try apt-get install missing lib but I can't remember the name it's something libqt...

Then I installed your program from http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...15&postcount=1 sucessfully.

Do you mind to tell how it works when you want to make it meet the requirements automatically. I know a little about packaging.

EDIT: When I launched to program from the homescreen it gives only a black screen. I've waited for about 5 min. Is this normal? Do I need to enable GPS and AGPS chip?

EDIT 2: And what is this libqtm-12?

I'll add libqtm-12 as a requirement - no biggy.
libqtm is QTMobility - it provides access to all of the the device stuff - both hardware and software, like GPS, sensors, leds, calendar, sms, etc...

It should show a blank screen only for something like 5-10 secs (no splash screen yet) until the map is loaded, but certainly not 5 min...
Are you connected to the network? it is needed to load the map

Then you should see something like this:
http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/phot...zhAbDuxVmCo%3D

edit:
I strongly recommend Wifi as for those with 30MB 3G @ orange (like me) - well, I have not yet implemented the map caching... :(

If I already added one image, here is another one:
