Nokia is flailing..so what are they gonna do they do about it? Cry like a baby.

http://gizmodo.com/5638627/nokia-han...ists-in-london

When I read this, It just confirmed my notion of Nokia as just not getting what they need to do to turn around their sinking ship. HTC is turning out top-notch phone after top-notch phone, they have become probably the most desired hardware manufacturer. A few years ago, most consumers didn't even know the name HTC.

So why is Nokia attacking them instead of taking some queues from them?

Go figure.

Please merge with the other threads:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=817012
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=817011

And in fact it was the other way around.
HTC planned their event just weeks ago whereas the Nokia World was planned already for a year.
Why at the same time at the same city?
To gain more attendees because HTC wouldn't be able to gather such an audience as Nokia.

Inform before post.

Because aping a competitor is a sure fire road to failure. Be happy though, it means Nokia is taking your precious HTC seriously as a competitor.

Considering HTC sent busses up to the Nokia World site, snark-back isn't unwarranted. Or is Nokia somehow always wrong in what they do?

And yes, merge this thread too.

The only thing HTC does that I would like Nokia to also do is stay out of software for the most part and concentrate on hardware. This appears to have been mostly accomplished with Meego being managed by the Linux Foundation and Nokia just putting their special spices on top (ala HTC Sense).

My god nokia just released 4 gorgeous handsets, better designed than anything htc/samsung offers. And for people who don't need a world class browser and thousands of apps symbian3 seems to be very capable. Compare that to android running on below 1Ghz processors, not a very pleasant experience. My next phone will likely be android (and meego in a year), but we are a bunch of freaks.

After seeing the phones that Nokia announced and the phones that HTC announced i'd say I like the style of the Nokia phones.

To each there own, My friend loves his evo and it suits him just perfectly.
Me, i'll get an e7, n8 or wait for the n9 and love it also.

What's up with people bringing Gizmodo and Engadget news over here all the time? It's like arguing Politics solely with a CNN web story. It sound ignorant and ridiculous.

@Texrat
Welcome to the Internets. I'm starting to feel that it was stupid to laugh to newspaper journalists complains on how net bloggers are taking their jobs and doing terrible work.

Seems like people really love tabloid style and do not have skills or brains to read them. Sad and scary. Collective mass of teengers just running from place to place and taking everything as its written.

HTC is jealous of Nokia's position and history. But they are the up and coming darlings of the media. They are fantastic for the phone industry as well with the range of high end handsets they push out.

Reminds me alot of boxing when an eager new fighter tries to goad an old champion into a fight. Usually by calling him out post win.

agreed. people should stop reposting story after story from gadget sites. gizmodo is like the tabloid of gadget sites looking for spice in a story.

They thrive on sheer sensationalism. It carries more currency with the reactionary citizens of the internet than fact. Witness this thread and a few trillion like it.

Pathetic.

Friggin' Gizmodo and their anti-Nokia bs.

It's really hard finding a neutral blog these days!

I can hardly believe that. First, as others already said, HTC was the one to hijack Nokia's event in the first place.
Second, I have a different idea of top-notch phones. HTC IMHO still produces low-quality Taiwanese plastic phones ready to be dumped after some months of use.
I had 2 HTC and would say, never again!
On the first one the color was coming off after a short time and screen's brightness couldn't be adjusted, and the keyboard slider on the second one started to make creaking noises after a few months of use like an old door that needed some oil. Oh, and both had crappy cameras, too.

Guys, stop treating these companies as if they're people...

betcha that both camps are happy with what had transpired... (in the end) it's a pretty lighthearted jab at each other and they got PLENTY of press coverage for what they've spent.
