N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
hi...just want to have some opinion from all of you.
for me... i'm waiting for meego, install it on my n900. If everything is fine and smooth (better than maemo now), i just continue use n900. if not, i keep my money for e7 more than n8 as e7 has qwerty keyboard. what do you think? :) |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
There will be also the N9 which is running MeeGo.
Maybe you should keep your money for that? But I like the design of the E7, too.. Very sleek. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
After my n900 I could not go back to a Symbian-based phone.
I'll wait for someone to release a phone more in line with the n900. BTW: The following is a chart summarising the specs of Nokia's new phones: http://www.pcworld.in/sites/default/..._jpg_12574.jpg |

but do you think the n9 will come with qwerty keyboard? any rumours when will it come out? |

It will be announced before the end of the year, probably next month. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
With the profilation of bluetooth keyboards on the market now a phone with a built-in keyboard is not so important anymore.
Except if you own a n900 - then it becomes the bluetooth lottery. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
just have to wait a year for them to become stable enough to use, it is nokia were talking about here you know!
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I don't really like the E7...16MB of memory are just not enough :(
:D PS. I realise it's a typo |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I'm still waiting for a worthy successor for my trusty N800... :)
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
i love my n900 and am keeping it, with all the hacks you could do with it. but i also signed up yesterday for the HTC Desire HD which, from the specs, looks amazing. it was a choice between N8 and Desire HD but decided to look away from nokia (have been using their phones since 1997)...
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I'm waiting for the E9 whatever it will be... is going to be top-notch for professional use, given I've understood the new Nokia naming convention.
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Keyboard of E7 looks good, but a fixed-focus EDOF camera?
Think I'd miss Macro and HDR camera apps too much now... The UI looks good, but not as snappy as Maemo5. Of course the range of apps will be an attraction, but as I am no gamer there's not much I miss on N900 At present. The only pull for me would be the new Ovi Maps, but I still live in hope that this will be made available to N900. I'll wait a bit longer for that, but would ultimately invest in Sygic before I'd invest in a new device. Besides, I want to see how others get on with these new models before I jump in: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me... |

I'm waiting for the N9 to replace my N900. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I think my N900 is actually going to save me money. It's the first phone i've purchased sim free and I feel no desire yet to look for a replacement, i've not had it a year yet and still absolutely love it. I won't go through what it does for me or what it replaces as that subject has been covered many times, but, when i do feel the gadget wanderlust i'll probably go for an N9, which will be a year or so old by then, cheaper, and i'll know how well (or not) supported it is.
Yippee :-) |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Meh... Smartphones are boring, and Symbian ones doubly so. I'm waiting for a Linux pocketable computer dammit!
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
im happy with my n900. maybe ill wait for the n1000?
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I'm not actually waiting anything anymore, maybe if Nokia could fix the laggyness of the N900 and make the music playback not stutter I could wait for that.
Somewhat pleased with my N900 but for now no Nokia in the future for me. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Im waiting for the next meego device after N9. I've heard It will be a monster. Do not need a slighly better device than N900. I really want the change the be huge.
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I'm waiting for ... delivery of the N8.
Nokia discovered the way to get me to go to their web site on a daily basis - have me pre-order something and then look to see if it shipped. I'm hoping I see it has shipped on-line at least several hours before my UPS guy rings the bell and leaves it on the front porch. I'm not sure what he looks like, except from the back as he races to the truck.;) |

i love the phone 'with' keyboard where ever i go... e7 fit my taste...as n900 keyboard make it look really big. anyway, n900 spec is still the best beside lack of good OS |

Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
ill be waiting to see how meego turns out on my n900, ill probably be waiting for the n9, the only problem i have with n900 is its thickness :D
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I would rather wait to see if MeeGo be on N900 first and tested it, if it lives up to the expectation then I will get MeeGo device. Also I want to see what kind of support MeeGo getting, how the market of apps is like and what it has to offered.
For now I am waiting for dual core A9 device :) |

But back to the OP, i'll be keeping my n900 for quite a while, because it does everything i want, and probably more to come. I'll see how Meego turns out, and see what happens to the N9, and may upgrade to that at some point. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
in the chart, E7 has no microsd? mistake right? right?

e7 is symbian and symbian is limited and annoying -__- |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I'm waiting for N9. If it looks anything like the leaked photos from China, that thing is hot. Plus if it's running Meego it will actually relevant. Symbian is dead as a door nail. I wish Nokia would stop wasting their time on it, and focus EVERYTHING on meego.
The E7 is very nice, if it ran Meego, and had more internal memory I would be all over it as well. 2d |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Since the question has been asked, I'll say this. I'm waiting on a phone that isn't resolution restricted like Symbian^3. 640x360 doesn't cut it for me.
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Omg.....you can't take out the battery on the E7? and definitely no
microsd..... I think they got too excited that USB OTG is working...... Anyone know if the Galaxy Tab has any form of USB host? I know a picture of an adapter accessory surfaced.....but there was no official confirmation? |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
ARM11 isn't that inspiring either... I wonder if it's a higher clocked version of the rapuyama+friends stack :)
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I like the E-7's design. I don't think the target market will care for higher resolution. I got used to the iPhone3G's screen resolution and that was pretty low compared to the N800. Symbian^3 should be getting the QtWebkit browser by November so I'll have a look at it then. The browser ha been the only thing lacking in Symbian.
I have no problems with Symbian as an OS. I don't get a lot of the Symbian hate coming from N900 owners I read on a lot of sites because the better Symbian^3 does, the better Qt will do. There is no longer such a thing as a Symbian or MeeGo developer, they are all now Qt developers. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I have an n8 preordered
will definitely get the n9 too when it comes out, so i will probably not get the e7(very similar form factor) i don't see why you just have to have one device, I mean you can swap sims in about 2 minutes and your off. Right now I swap sims with four different phones depending what i am going to be doing, they all have my contacts calendar and email setup: iphone 3gs:use this when out with the kids, ton of games and edu apps installed and it is simple enough they can work it. samsung vibrant:mostly for mobile media use without sim, but sometimes i run this one with sim. the screen is really nice and media player plays most formats. Probably going to sell this one when n8 gets here. nokia e72:If I am going to be on the road in the car, this is definitely my choice. ovi nav is great, easy one handed use, very long battery life nokia n900:my daily driver. does everything :) |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
The E7 looks very slick, but for most of us who have been here before the n900, these devices aren't considered competitors to any high-end handheld computing device. Even current smartphones. Nokia continues to draw a very thick line between Symbian products and Maemo/MeeGo products. The screen resolution says everything.
These phones are a huge contrast to what plenty of us are expecting. Even though it won't be a dual-core A9, I'm becoming very optimistic that the N9 will be a must buy. It will be Nokia's only competitor to the likes of the iPhone and the Galaxy S. As usual, these Symbian devices will never be a consideration for my kind, but I hope Nokia's Qt vision pays off so that the masses just won't care what's underneath. Or about screen resolution. |
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I have a question, now since Symbian is now open source can there be a dual boot to MeeGo? Because it would be really nice to have an N8 or an E7 with MeeGo builds on it! :)
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
Even if symbian is opensource it doesnt mean N8 or E7 is open.. The symbian phones from Nokia are tightly locked down so that you can't go replace/mess up the OS..

Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
I´m waiting for the N9-03.
Let me explain. We´ve got the N900, which Nokia is giving shitty update service to. The next device will be the N9-01. Which will be running a hybrid Meego-Maemo (Harmattan is Maemo 6 with some Meego parts). That is also a "dead end" like Maemo 5 and predecessors. It will likely get the same shitty customer service as the forerunners. After that we will have N9-02 which will be the first Meego-Meego device (if it´ll ever come ouit). I won´t trust Nokia to not abandon it, after having proven through the 5 previous devices that they give crappy service to their customers. Also being the first it won´t have that many rpm packaged programs available for it at the beginning so I don´t want to wait a year for programmers to wake up and have a half-usable device. Hence I´ll wait for the N9-03 to see if they´ve ironed out all the bugs that were in the first Meego device. |

the only reason that i love and keep n900 for a while , is that its linux -like portable device . i wont trust nokia again
|
Re: N8 and E7 is here now...what are you waiting?
N900 is so addictive....best smartphone ever.....had 3GS.....boring compared to N900....E7 looks good but i am still wondering how well the email client will work.....
