[ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

TPlayer is a simple database-based music player that can show different views of DB(selecting by artist or album with sorting in one click), play back most popular formats. It's purpose is to be small, quick, and easy to use.

Features include:
Playlist controls
Equalizer
Covers download (also downloading bands biography)
Lyrics download
Many file formats supported
Last.fm scrobling
Easy-to-use UI, Keyboard control included
FMTX control
Internet radio

The newest version is: 1.0.7-5

The package can be found in extras-devel\extras-tesing. It's still buggy with orientation and doesn't have progress bars for covers download(so after push this just wait). May require a lot of internet data at first time. For active last.fm scrobling require constant internet connection(will fix it).For internet radio require good connection(bitrate is various), use /home/user/tplayer-inet.m3u to set stations

The package page: http://maemo.org/packages/view/tplayer/

It would be nice to hear back from people willing to try it. You can post bugreports or requests or comments here, or to my e-mail address.

Thanks

I will give a try:) Looks clean and simple:)

TMarki 2010-09-20 09:54

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

I wanted to try it, but for some reason it fails to add songs to the playlist - it looks like it finds them (progress bar filling up, with the paths on the top), but when it finishes the playlist is still empty.

Also it would be nice if it would remember the last added directory path, it's a chore to always navigate to the music folder.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

TMarki: i have some bug in files permission in package, trying to fix it, now you can select sorting\filtering with empty second string and push sort(if not empty, it will filter list,so not all files will be shown)
and can you send /home/user/.tplayer* files to me?does this files have user:user permissions?

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

TMarki:Yeap, as i think, just enable sorting filtering in any order(file .tplayer-list shoul containg only one SQL query, file named .tplayer-list in you arhieve should be called .tplayer-lists,rename it)

or try this codes
Code:

mv /home/user/.tplayer-list /home/user/.tplayer-lists
echo "SELECT * FROM tracks WHERE 1 ORDER by RANDOM()">/home/user/.tplayer-list

also tplayer 1.0.3-7 from extras-devil may fix this problem(look's like problem is disappeared, after first appending to playlist make any sort if not)
When scanning it append all files from sub directories(with extensions from option dialog)

I haven't downloaded this app yet, but I can see the Main control screen has lyrics spelled incorrectly. This may have been fixed by now though...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

berlinermaxe, i'll try to integrate it, but now i doesn't know how to do this conveniently and seamlessly

The Arsonist, oh, thanks, will fix it in next release, english isn't my native so if anybody found same bugs let me know

So it has an equalizer as well? And is it heavy on cpu?

bonapart 2010-10-04 16:12

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

has, equalizer is standart qt, so cpu load is the same as in tomamp and symphonie
requere gstreamer to be installed

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

downloaded it and work very smooth thanx alot
but it i have 2 comment :
1- when streaming radio channels the name of artist and song doesn't show up like defult media player's radio
2- theres no minimize to tray/multitask button, i have to pree ctrl + backspace to switch between apps
but generaly loved it and loved the radio stations +10

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

1. i doesn't know where get artist\title for internet streams(mb i have bad streams)
2. i doesn't know where i should place it, it break design at all if i show standart maemo bar
and yeah, if somebody can post more stations with description to sorting(genres, language) to implement in future version, i will be happy a lot
in fact i doesn't test all station, so this reports will be highly demanded

I downloaded this application on a N900 with standard OS.
Following points:

1) It is not clear how I get to the point where I can listen to my MP3s on the SD card: I cannot select a directory and tell tplayer to start playing there. Is there some kind of manual or manpage?

2) when I activate the equalizer or touch the sliders the application crashes/vanishes.

So far no luck with this player.
:(

bonapart 2010-10-07 20:07

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

PMaff,
1)click playlist -> function -> add -> directory, push arrow up 2 times and you will see SD card(work's fine for me)
2)you should have gstreamer packages to use equalizer ( start tplay from xterm and after crash you will see helpfull messages...)

1) ok

2) start on xterm gives:
"Maemo application must be run with the run-standalone.sh script!"
what does this mean? Do I need to install
gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra and some scripts and...
2.1) "QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme."
...and some theme stuff?

I do not want to start an "install orgy".
:(

I just want a simple MP3 player with equalizer!

installing gstreamer from xterm
Quote:

root
apt-get install gstreamer*
y

i will create depending to gstreamer in next release if it's necessary
2,1) nothing important in this message

installing gstreamer* results in a multitude of unfullfilled
dependencies:
...
libtheora0
libogg0
libvorbis0a
libvorbisenc2
libvpx0
and so on and on and on.

:(

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

if i not mistaken you should install extra decoders support first(and it include gstreamer).

Now I got it running.

What I did:
1) enabled extra devels once more
2) as root: apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-good-extra
it says something about missing deps again
3) apt-get -f install
4) tplayer still crashes when using the equalizer, so I uninstall
tplayer with Program Manager
5) reinstall tplayer as root with
dpkg -i tplayer_1.0.6-9_armel.deb

Now I can use equalizer too.
:)

Thanks for your help.

I'll play with tplayer and come back with a list of issues.
Some things I noticed:
a) does not remember last played song
b) sometimes adding a new directory does not work: new songs are not shown although the filter seems to do something.
c) equalizer settings are not remembered when switching off

bonapart 2010-10-08 22:06

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

New version
* Settings moved to DB
* Last played track saving(and restoring)
* On start playing if headphone connected
* Saving FMTX options
i create dependencies to gstreamer libs so i guess no equalizer problem to new users will be

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

how about colorful and new layout in the next update

bonapart 2010-10-09 20:06

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

What you mean about colorful?
New layout? any ideas ?
i'm not designer at all, so if you have some proposition you can download code and make some changes (Qt Designer or Qt Creator 2.x needed)

AgogData 2010-10-09 21:13

Re: [ANNOUNCE] TPlayer available

tplayer as an application is gr8, but the design is pretty classic so is tplayer's menu icon
honestly i dont know anything about programming, its just my opinion :)
but some guys were talking about changing colors in another multimedia application from this page on :

Thanks for the fast update and the equalizer save.
:)

Found up to now:
a) there are certain songs which are not found by the filter and therefore never can be played.
I tried a few things but these files are not found.

Is there some mode where I simply can take a *.m3u or
*.pls file and play the files in the order that these files tell?
Or some setting to play the files in a directory in the order that they are there (e.g. if I number files like originally on CD)

b) after 2nd filter/CD I cannot load another set of MP3s (another CD)

c) volume setting is always set to max after quit and restart

Edit:
d) when N900 gets locked, tplayer is backgrounded.
If you put tplayer to foreground again the icons
(e.g. play, next and so on) disappear. Touching the screen the icons on the touched coordinates appear again.
Looks a bit weird first.
;)
