UhOh? eMMC issue?
I think i have encountered the dreaded eMMC problems that this phone has...
1. Text message conversations are not saving and sending/receiving them is problematic 2. Cannot access my music library(even though its on a MicroSD card) 3. Cannot access pictures (even though it is on my MicroSD) I had issues in the past where my music files wouldn't be recognized but I just figured that this was a problem with the contacts with the SD card.... Any recommendations you guys can give to fix this issue other than sending it in for warranty? Also, all of my home screens are fine. They stay in place and everything. That's why i thought it was the eMMC. |
Re: UhOh?
I suggest posting this question to one of many existing threads about eMMC issue, or even if it's worthy to stand on its own to at least give a properly descriptive thread title.

Re: UhOh?
Too bad when I look it up, there aren't any threads i can find on the first few pages that talk about eMMC as the core issue.

Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
Sound like a full /home/ partition.
What is the output of the df command in Xterminal ? |

it also says that /opt is 100% same with /dev/mmcbk9p2 Do I just need to uninstalled unneeded apps? Scratch that, it says no applications installed. :( |

Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
Have you any big application installed ? (like Quake 2, Quake 3 Openarena...)
|
Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
I had something that was ridiculously large, I've already followed some of the guides that recommend disabling the repositories and uninstalling games which i've done. Surprisingly, one game took up something like 80MB... and I don't even have doom installed.
I think this should remedy the issue, but for some reason I cannot run the apt-get clean and apt-get autoremove commands once i've run the SUDO GAINROOT command to gain root access. Is there another way to gain root access? |
Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
Normally the size/usage of /home and /opt are the same because it is the same partition, can you post the complete out pute of df ?

Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
I've done most of the steps that people have been instructed to follow, yet conversations are still not saving.

Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
Everything appears to be back to normal except for conversations...
|
Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
No ideas on how to revive my conversations?

Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
**** just got real.
I woke up this morning to it telling me that the memory is now read only and that I cannot write to it until i "fix" it at which point it told me I need to back everything up and wipe away. Bad news :( |
Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
I just re-flashed... nothing. Still having problems with conversations. The most important part of this device.
|
Re: UhOh? eMMC issue?
When i tried flashing the eMMC it keeps going to the point where its about to flash... where it boots the device into flash mode then goes and tries to find it agian by saying suitable USB device not found, waiting. WHen that occurs, the phone switches from updating mode to PC Suite mode which doesn't allow the flasher to see the phone anymore.
