Please no non-sense comments,,,
I'm thinking about changing my N900 without any valid reason  I Just would like to get an android after trying it on my N900.. Looks suitable for me... My main use of my phone is: 1- Internet 2- Messenger 3- Games & Apps Needs & what I want to see: 1- Fast CPU 2- Nice & Neat UI 3- Good Sound Quality 4- Battery Saving ...This what I can currently retrieve from my mind :D The First Choice: HTC Desire HD http://img.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/htc/...e-hd-new-1.jpg http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_hd-3468.php Second Choice: Samsung Galaxy S http://st.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg...marena_001.jpg http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-3115.php Third Choice Keep my sexy N900 :D http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/9...0620101102.jpg Any comments are welcomed :) Thank You |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
I don't really say much, Coz I really hate posts like this!!. Sorry if that sounds rude? It wasn't ment to be but IMO stick with the N900.
Anyway what ever your choice is. Good luck Regards Qosmio |

Why not just do what feels right to you without caring about other people's opinions?

Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
The Desire HD looks really, really good, and looks to have a really great all-around experience:
http://www.youtube.com/v/GHO9A9Zf5g8?fs=1&hl=en_US Of course, the Galaxy S is also reveared as being a great smartphone, with many great features as well (including stellar performance, and amazing screen/sound quality). Sorry to make things harder. If I had experience with both, I could perhaps help a little more. |

You are probably the one who know what suits you best. If it aint that important i would wait until the next generation of devices. The difference aren't that big yet. So come back in the first quarter next year... then a change would probably be more worth it... if you don't plan to switch again.

Get an iPhone 4.

Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
On the Desire you are covered with 1 and 2.
cant say about 3, but I have heard that batterytime is awful on it, even comparing to N900 :D Games are on all Android phones great IMO. Messenger is not as good as N900 ( but not by far) and browsing is also somewhat off, even though there is flash 10 on newer android firmware. The overall browser experience is different than n900, you either like it or hate it. I like the n900 . On Galaxy, you have more balanced package, battery is similar to n900. Might even better, I don´t really know. It all comes down to what you REALLY want, more apps/games in a more mobile phone package or less apps/games in more mobile computer package. All the 3 phones have there weakness and streights. Just my 2 cents |

Wait for the next Nokia N9 with Meego.
I was in same situation, but now am holding on for Nokia to unveil it... Too much money of a investment to jump quick. But thats just me. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
In my ignorance (and it is ignorance) and given the choices, I would give the nod to the Galaxy S:
Based on what I've read (a lot of stuff): 1) SAMOLED screen quality is quite a nice feature 2) The Sound quality is supposed to be incredible (unloaded -- on par with iPhone4) 3) Touchwiz is supposed to be very light compared to a deeply integrated Sense 4) Battery life is supposed to be better on the Galaxy S 5) The Galaxy S is the better performer 6) The Galaxy S camera is very good, and has great low-light performance (even lacking a flash) 7) The Galaxy S is more compact and thinner and lighter (though the screen is smaller) 8) Reviews of the Galaxy S are resoundingly positive |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
I would said, keep your N900 since your existing N900 already can do all what your mentioned on "1" and "2" works best on N900.. of course "3" (ls still lacking),
Regardless Samsung Galaxy or Desire...it is the same for all Android phones, They are all the same ....it is just changing the skins (UI) and add and minus some function here and there and they called it a new Android phone. Just look at there a so many Android phones out there, they all looks and function almost identical. Things u can get from one Android compare to another android are almost same. LOL. You should wait a bit longer.... unless u have the $$$$ :) Good Luck |

Anyway, stick with the N900. You will get bored with Android within a week. The only fun thing about Android is that you can install it on the N900, and that is impossible with the HTC or Samsung. Or get a N8, Samsung wave or a N9. |

keep N900.
Have had mine for a year and am loving it more an more every day. It's not perfect...but it's truly an addicting phone. Hold out for the N9 if you want to change soon. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
Wow I am quite shocked at these results. I thought the HTC Desire woukd walk away in the polls by a long way. Then Samsung and then N900. Can't believe the N900 is so far ahead. I know this is maemo.org but even still I thought people would be capable of being objective.
Seriously the HTC blows the N900 away to Mars unless you are interested in doing some mad tweaking in which case stick to N900. But you did not say anything about that so not sure why N900 is ahead of the Desire. Only plus the N900 has over the Desire is the keyboard. But if that is important to you then ditch the N900 and get the Samsung Galaxy Epic. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
Buy all three. won't make you happy and you are back on the same spot again asking about advice for six other phones.
My advice is stay where you are. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
Let me throw my hat in the ring sorta speak. I love my n900 period. But I will be getting the tmobile G2 when it drops as a "back up" phone sorta speak. I know all my friends was like what you jumpping ship to android? I was like no just going to have two boats lol. While I love the n900 and it will always be my favorite phone. The lack of support & lacking phone features has taken its toll these days and honestly I just needs an phone that works. I can't go back to winmo or the paper os blackberry wont cut it and me ma has an iphone she bearly use that I bought her so one iphone user in the family is enough lol. So imma give android another shot since I do miss the G1 from time to time. But believe you me my N900 will still be with me and used a lot. And before people say it "wait for meego" before getting a phone well thats just what imma do imma wait for meego to be out in the wild before I even consider getting an meego device. This time around its going to be show and prove with Nokia first before I get another Nokia device.

Buddy technology keeps on changing as do the features as well. It would be stupid if you had bought a new phone now. Why dont you save your money until a new technology for mobile phone comes out and then buy it otherwise, it is just a waste of money.

Pleaseeee Android really is boring (no sarcasm). It looks like iOS for people who think they finally understand smart phones. Sure it is a good OS but it lacks the *zing* that Maemo made me feel. And from what i've seen of Meego - im bracing myself for another ZING MOMENT :D

So I continue to frequent these golden threads -- to share pieces of my mind and to accept pieces of others' -- despite the planned move to embrace Android as my mobile OS. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
If you were to favour the HTC Desire HD on account of its 4.3” screen, then consider going the extra .7” and have a look at the Dell Streak.
http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2010/09...s-dell-streak/ From what I can see, Android is Android and very shortly all high end phones will have 2.2 Froyo, just some a week or two sooner than others. Manufacturers like to add value to Android with their own enhancements but I don’t see that as a differentiator as the hacker community makes them (or similar) available anyway. If screen size doesn’t matter then I would have no opinion. Quote:

the only major difference would be OS

Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
Keep the N900 and get yourself another phone. So this way you have both in your hands :)
Better than regret later on |

Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
I voted "Keep the N900"... from what you've listed above, all are sexy kit; however the N900 you already own, it works great and it's definitely a great device.
And besides... give you enough time to wait to see what Samsung does with their Galaxy S series as well as what HTC does with their phones. |
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
I voted 'keep the n900' as I got a Desire a few weeks back to give the 2.2 android a go and have decided to switch back to the n900. I have plenty of reasons for switching back but the switch from maemo to android has left me with the feeling I've taken a step forward and more than two back.
I would add another option to the poll: 'Wait for Meego/Android 3.0' |

I don't know if this has been posted, but here's a quick comparison of Epic4G (Galaxy S variant) and EVO (Desire HD variant) taking photos:

Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
Stick with ur n900, there is nothing new in those phone u want to buy. Android u can't modify like Maemo.
|
Re: Should I get the HTC Desire HD or Galaxy S or Just keep my N900?
stick with the n900 if i were you. since you can afford high-end devices, wait for a bit as processors seems to go 1.2 - 1.5 ghz now. meego and windows 7 are coming out before the year ends so why not give it a chance and research more...
