Re: n900 images and videos problem
UPDATE:
try type this in xterminal: sudo gainroot (I assumed you've got this rootsh installed, you can ignore this part if you want. I got used to do things as super user lol so this is my habit. But for you, you are a beginner therefore being as super user will harm your device than good. Stay away from Super User if you are a newbie to Linux. It's ver dangerous.) cd /home/user/MyDocs ls -A (You'll see a list of files, now try find DCIM.) cd /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM ("this will get into DCIM folder") if you can get inside it then your DCIM folder is there. Type ls to show everything in the DCIM folder but excluding the hidden files And also if you got a memory card then do this also cd /media/mmc1/ ls -A cd DCIM ls "ls" = LS in lower case. It is not "is", all Linux commands are typed in lower case. Remember this. hope this helps. Good Luck |

Re: n900 images and videos problem
Plz somebody find me a wayout, The xterminal shows all the files, which means they are there, but how to access them via filemanager? and why doesnot filemanager show them?
Help,thanks |
Re: n900 images and videos problem
The filemanager uses localized(?) names for directorys like
Documents, Photos, .... In german the DCIM folders is named "Kamera". nicolai |
Re: n900 images and videos problem
Dear Nicolai, I dont know if u understood my problem. The xterminal shows all of the folder, but the folders are not seen in filemanager, so there is some error. Even when i opened Ansel-A to edit pics, all pics were loaded, but they fail to be seen when i use filemanager.
Thanks |
Re: n900 images and videos problem
did you renamed your folders?
for example from .sounds or .videos to pics or vids? |

I, for example have this folder with all pictures take with the camera /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM This is how the real folder name is, as it is seen in xterm. N900/Kamera is the path from within the filemanager For "images" /home/user/MyDocs/.images (in xterm) N900/Bilder (from the filemanager) regards Nicolai |
Re: n900 images and videos problem
hi superkoolguy
Solution 1: copy the DCIM folder to folder Video of your mobile, for this execute follow in xterminal root cp -R /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM /home/user/MyDocs/.videos Now simply open file manager> videos> u can c DCIM folder there. Solution2: copying the files from DCIM folder into folder video of your mobile may help, for this execute follow in xterminal root cp /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM/*.JPEG /home/user/MyDocs/.videos cp /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM/*.MP4 /home/user/MyDocs/.videos Now simply open file manager> videos> u can c DCIM folder there. |

Re: n900 images and videos problem
It may be that the fs is corrupt, probably from removing it from a PC when it wasn't ready. That causes lots of strange things, including behavior like you're seeing. Try the following:
Code:
root Once you've done that, tell tracker to re-start AS USER (not as root) like this: Code:
tracker-processes -r |

Re: n900 images and videos problem
Hey guys, I have a problem where my Photos app that comes with the N900 does not recognise any recently taken photos and when I go into file manager to view file really they have the "?" icon and the Details option can't recognise they "type" of file.
Thank you for the help |
Re: n900 images and videos problem
I had same problems with DCIM and other media folders on N900. The solution I found was:
1) Backup any file in problematic folder. Use usb pc connection or other method. 2) Remove entire problematic folder. Use Filebox (file manager wont allow). Install it if you dont have it. 3) Take some photos and videos with defalt camera software (this will recreate the deleted folders automaticly). Notice that you must select internal memory to save files (not sdcard) After that, all must work well. |
