Haven't had a chance to try it, but I though someone else might want to.

Hey,

I tried to run the conky_start.sh file, but i got the next error message:
invalid configaration file.

So I try to check the conf. file.

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

This depends from:

* conky
* conkyForecast
* weather.com registration

I'm not sure that conkyForecast is available on N900.

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

hey i looked at this briefly (i'm no expert) but to get conkyForecast working we need support for conky with imlib2 enabled.
we can't enable this on the n900, the build fails because the libimlib2-dev package (or whatever) has "x support disabled"
basically what i'm saying is that conky can't draw images on the n900 without someone fixing the code.

try conky forecast or go find another way. imlib2 works now so you shouldn't run into problems. thanks for the 5 identical pm, that pretty much ensures i won't bother helping you now.

Yeah... Is does look a bit like the HTC Sense, but I think there are much better replicas made with Queen Beecon.

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

hi, i'd like to try conkyForecast

(i found it with the command "apt-cache search conky")

i have conky installed and i registered on weather.com for the api key

i installed the deb but i dont know how to start conkyForecast

all i can see is the files and folders in
/usr/share/conkyforecast

i registered on weather.com to obtain the username and apikey and i put
that data together with my location code in conkyForecast.config , then
i made a copy of .conkyForecast.config in ~

but i need an explanation how to lunch conkyForecast

i tryied "python conkyForecast.py" but it give errors reading weather
data:invalid license key, location UKXX0103 is not in cache, failed to
load the location cache

i had some results with: conky -c /usr/share/conkyforecast/example/conkyrc

or

conky -c /usr/share/conkyforecast/test/conkyrc

conky start but without weather data and in terminal give errors: "unabe to find conkyForecast"

can somebody tell me the proper commands/usage?

thank you so much!

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

You're trying on n900, I guess, you should probably mention that.
The conkyforecast package wasn't created by me, and the guy that built it didn't say he tested it either. It might not work at all, or may need some special steps to get it working.
Did you read this?
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=869328
If you try to sign up for the weather.com api key it's not free anymore...

These guys did it over using a different weather service and using lua, maybe a better starting point:

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

yes im using N900.

the basic account for the api is still free

im not a software programmer but maybe the problem is in the settings?

i read that the weather channel api service is accessible at:
http://api.theweatherchannel.com/data/

The general format for URLs associated with the Service is as follows:
http://api.theweatherchannel.com/data/{command}/{location}?doctype={format}&country={co
untry}&locale={locale}&units={units}&apikey={apike y}{&parameters}

but in the conkyforecast's config file i read:

BASE_XOAP_URL = http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/<LOCATION>?cc=*&dayf=5&link=xoap&prod=xoap&par=<XO AP_PARTNER_ID>&key=<XOAP_LICENSE_KEY>&unit=m

Re: HTC Style weather with conky

any suggestions?

is just a matter of changing the link to the api or the entire app must be upgraded?

i think OMweather is using weather.com api as well, is it possible to take the right settings from there?
