Application that can send photo for free???

Hi....I was just wondering is there any application that can send photos, or voice recorded files to other users over 3g or wifi for free?
I know there is mms...but it cost....
Thanks!

No file transfer on skype or msn. Only for jabber accounts at the moment. Quite disappointing.

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

Share to Picasa or some other sharing site for images and videos. For sending non-multimedia, email is good.

Problem with file sharing is that few people have an account with <whatever it does the trick>. Email stinks, because of size limitations and spam. Bluetooth is slow. Chat is not supported, since there are millions of protocols.

What you need to consider is what the other party has available. If they have email, email. If they have YM, monorail (I think it works with YM). If they have none of these but have wifi, perhaps you should convince them to join a file sharing site, there are plenty out there.

Common ground.

considering how open those two protocols are, it isn't very surprising....

maybe you should be more specific in describing what you're really looking for.

you don't want mms.
you don't want email.
you don't want file transfer via XMPP.

why not say what you need?

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

looks like its the best choice i have....thought there would be an application that is able to send photo directly to friends without having to post thru file sharing sites as some photos posted might be a little privacy LOL!

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

Need an app which can directly send files to friends instead of going thru file sharing site...like skype or msn or YM

Can it be free???

He already said MMS doesn't work for him. (Sounds like he's got no free MMS on his plan.)

I still don't get what's wrong with email (does something like GMail even still impose a filesize limitation? One that actually makes a difference for photo sharing?). If your friends have internet connectivity too you can use woof, though unless you get IPv6 IP addresses courtesy of your provider, they won't be able to connect to you when you're on 3G.

The best thing about Blackberry for me (or only good thing) is messanger. And one of the best things about blackberry messanger is the fact I can quickly send files to anyone. Amazing. Wish Nokia had this. Don't know why they don't but then again I don't know a lot about how technologies work but like to see useful tech. And it sure is useful.

And the United Arab Emirates can spy on your convos if you're over their territory regardless of the beefed up pricey berrycription......

Anyway, when you say it sends to anyone, do you really mean to anyone, or just to anyone that also got a berry?

- ssh to your friend's n900 and send the file through the terminal. Thats the geek (right) way to do it. If he doesnt have an N900, he probably doesnt deserve to get the file anyway. :D

- use dropn900

Pixelpipe+Petrovich?

Or setup ftp-server on your N900 and do the same thing to your friends machine and then use the fukkin ftp-clients to send and download files.

Hmm sure he was looking for a simple and convenient solution like how if you are using skype on your PC you can share files as easy as A,B,C.

with endless possibilities and none of them good enough for our dear OP, i wonder where this thread will eventually end.... put your phone upside-down on a xerox machine and send the copy by fax? end the whole phone via UPS? a torrent maybe?

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

isn't there a program that allows you to send files using some of the acounts in the builltin communication stuff?

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

Why not bluetooth? Okay that might be a problem for iPhones, though that isn't the n900s fault.

Another option is to install lighttpd (a lightweight webserver), you can also install mobile hotspot in case there isn't a wifi network handy, then your friends can point their web browser to your n900 and download the files you want to share that way.

I know it's not exactly what you're asking for, but I would say Pixelpipe is your friend. It's beautifully integrated with N900 so sending an image or video is a matter of two taps and you can configure Pixelpipe to do just about anything with those uploaded images - for example post them to facebook or ovi in a public folder.

Re: Application that can send photo for free???

I Ilike that idea, host a temporary server on the device itself, fire up an ad-hoc wifi network with password and let your friends see your images (they still can save copies that you have no control over, but that is the risk of sexting)

Or are you after somthing for sexting at distance?

What about a VPN+VNC solution? if you swich off your desktop as often as I do (once a month) it would be viable... and you can use MSN, Skype, Xfire, etc. Although I prefer email myself:P
