Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
Update: Reflashing PR1.3 fixed it.
After applying PR1.3 OTA, everything runs faster, especially the web browser and IMAP email. But: Mail for Exchange appears broken. After PR1.3, none of my Exchange folders are displayed. However, notification balloons are still displayed when I receive incoming Exchange email. If I click on one of the notifications, it goes to the MfE page but only displays "Drafts, Outbox, Sent, Archive". It never shows the message or other folders. I removed and recreated the Exchange account with a full resynchronization. No change. Also, a strange thing just happened: When I sent a test email from my Exchange email to my IMAP email, my test email never got sent. What ending up happening is that a colleague's email from a month ago got resent to a mailing list he had sent it to, but under my name!!! It's as though MfE had a corrupted database and the message that was sent had everything wrong (To, Cc, Subject, Body) except the sender!!! The message that was sent was one I had received in the past, not the one I was typing. Looks like I'm going to have to reflash. Anyone else see this after PR1.3? |

I went to the settings and retyped my password, saved and it started working.

It does sound like something is corrupt. It's working fine for me, too.

Re: Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
btw, enyone know if syncing contact from N900 to hotmail works now after PR1.3?
My experience is that syncing down contacts to N900 works but N900 does not sync up new contact or changes up to hotmail. |
Re: Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
Mail works, but calendar is broken in PR1.3:
1. Accepted invitations don't get added to calendar. 2. Syncing calendar only works manually -- the checkbox in the MfE settings keeps getting cleared. |

It's disappointing that so many others aren't finding that same level of success. I'm synchronizing with an Exchange 2007 server. I've no idea if the Exchange/ActiveSync version in use might contribute to the success or failure of MfE in PR1.3, but it seems a possibility. |
Re: Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
I have a problem too with mfe after installing pr 1.3
It still works and it syncs all calender tasks but sometimes it will not sync automatically and it says: can't reach server, check account settings. But if i manually sync it, then it works fine again? What could be the problem of that? Greetings |
Re: Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
I couldn't get MfE to work AT ALL before PR1.3, then after updating to PR1.3 it suddenly synced nicely with my Google calendar, then yesterday I tried to re-sync and add email and contacts, and I got those two error communication messages. Now I can't even go back to a working MfE just for calendar. Is this a PR1.3 thing or a Google servers thing? I'm telling you, it's bloody annoying to see other N900 owners saying "no problem here" - because we've all got the same phone!! Why won't it work?!

Re: Mail for Exchange Broken After PR1.3
OK, I actually got MfE to sync my Google calendar (but still not Contacts). I had forgotten some advice from a Nokia forum site, where a helpful person lists how to do it step-by-step with screenshots.
In Advanced settings during the MfE setup, make sure you select the NEW option in Calendars. Seems to show 'N900' by default in this section, but it must be changed to NEW. If you forget to delete any old unusable MfE calendars on the phone, the NEW one will be called Mail for Exchange1, but you can delete the old one in the usual calendar settings. I am at a loss as to why Nokia makes this SO difficult, and if anyone has any advice on how to sync Google Contacts, I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! |
