no sound: pulseaudio not started at boot

Hi,

I upgraded to PR1.3 a few days ago using apt-get dist-upgrade. Everything seemed fine.

When I boot the phone now, it appears that I have no sound on the system, neither with the player, nor when I receive a call.

I'm forced to wait a few minutes after boot and type 'start pulseaudio' as root to be able to use the phone. If I do it immediately after boot, I get the error:

start: pulseaudio respawning too fast, stopped

Any idea ?

Patrick

i think the best way is to reflash ur devise and next time u wanna upgrade dont use dist-upgrade unless u know what ur doing instead of that just apt-get upgrade.

Today I faced this probem when everyone complained that they are not able to hear me and I was also not able to hear them. But I was able to receive the calls and make the calls. Is this a new bug??

EDIT : After reboot its working now

To OP.Did you install anything from testing, devel or did you experiment with modified&updated pulseaudio from here TMO?

.edit
Carlito and you did you install something highly experimental to your n900 before running OTA?

@slender:

Did nothing but update. . .
No dist-upgrade or something like that . . .
Guess something conflicts when updating OTA.

Try the following and see if it will help:

Code:

apt-get remove decoders-support
and then reboot. You will loose a few codecs, though.

Re: no sound: pulseaudio not started at boot

@dov: could you explain the link between pulseaudio problem and decoders-support ?
